It’s the Monday before Christmas, so it’s crunch time to finish buying gifts and get them prepared to give others. Some of us prefer gift bags and some of us prefer wrapping paper. There’s no right or wrong, it’s personal preference. Let’s find out a little on the topic….

Time to find out what you all like to do. Let’s wrap up our answer and give it to others today…..

* Please base your answers on what you do throughout the year.

When wrapping a gift, do you prefer gifts bags or wrapping paper?
If you use both, how much of each do you use?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..I use wrapping paper 100% of the time (I even wrap gift cards in boxes). Once in awhile I may use a gift bags, but not enough for me to include it in my answer. It’s easier for me to wrap gifts now, than in the past, because I get so many Amazon deliveries, that different box sizes are never a problem. I do have many different shirt size boxes too that I also use. I do ask for shirt boxes back from my family so I can reuse them every year. Why do I prefer wrapping paper? Because I love the way wrapped presents look with ribbon and a bow. There’s a lot of pretty bags out there, but it’s not the same to me as a beautifully wrapped gift with paper.

We wrapped the grandkids' and bagged the adults'. :santa:

ETA apostasies or it would appear, without them, I actually wrapped the kids and bagged the adults which at this stage of the game could become a possibility!! :rotfl:

I lean more toward wrapping, as I actually do enjoy it. But I put a few things in gift bags, especially if the shape is awkward. (I also sometimes use a bag if it's for a pet, so I can see them "open" it themselves.)

I voted 75/25, but it's probably more 80/20.

We use gift bags as much as possible. The only time we wrap a present is when it is a size that won't fit in a gift bag. An example would be the hiking poles I bought for my sister.

I really like the environmental factor. And it is cheaper to have bags we can reuse over and over again. :)

I love wrapping.....ribbons, bows and usually an added extra decoration (like snowman).
I limited my bags to one per person for our family.....usually for ones that are odd shaped.

For going places, bags

I put rarely use gift bags, because I don't think it's as much as 25%. Maybe 15%. Wine always goes in a gift bag. And I usually use one when the gift is several small items (like fancy snacks, consumable things).

CheatGPT 😝

Anyways, it depends on my mood… if I’m so drained I might just throw gifts in a bag.

Well, the only gifts I'm in 'chsrge' of, for the most part, are my gifts for Marie. Almost exclusively wrapping.

I use a combination, but mostly wrapping paper. I like picking out paper, like to wrap, and for kids, I think tearing the paper is part of the fun. On the other hand, gift bags are more practical, since they are mostly saved and reused. There’s some that have been passed around within my family for years.

Wrapping paper all the way! Pretty much the only things that do not get wrapped are the girls' annual gift of PJs on Christmas Eve. What's really funny is those usually wind up in Hanukkah gift bags that I've been reusing for decades. Still, on Christmas morning, I want to hear that sound of paper being torn. I'm horrible at gift wrapping but I just enjoy the whole process of watching and hearing everyone rip things open.

I prefer wrapping! There's nothing like a gift box with crisp tight paper wrapped with ribbons! I love curling the scrap paper and making my own bows to match.

But I'm not against bags either- they have their uses. Young kids just can't get into wrapped gifts and boxes as easy, they are great for odd shaped things that can't be put into a neat box, and they can be used to haul the rest of the gifts back home. My preference with bags though is to give an actual bag as a gift and fill it with smaller wrapped gifts. This year I packed everyone's gifts in either a canvas tool bag or a leather tote bag. Throughout the years I've given out waxed canvas grocery bags, regular canvas tote bags, and other types of purses too.

I wrap almost exclusively (although I save the gift bags others use for our gifts - go figure!). I've gotten lazy with curling ribbon, though, and moved to bows.

This year, I was so behind that nothing I shipped out had bows OR ribbons. I was glad to just get them covered and out.

I envy DH's family -- they approach gift wrapping as the wrapping being part of the gift. They wrap gorgeously (use real ribbon, double-sided tape, etc.). I've always wanted to be them when I grow up, but I've opted for efficiency over beauty.

This is a timely poll, as I am wrapping gifts this morning. I use gift wrap 99.9% of the time. The only time I use a gift bag is if the item would be too difficult to wrap with wrapping paper. However, I usually wrap the item in tissue paper and then surround it with more tissue paper in the bag, so they can’t just look down into the bag and immediately see what it is.
