Saturday I went to the bank to deposit my check and I requested cash back. When I get cash back I always get the following - a $20, two 10s, four 5s and ten 1s - I like having cash on me, especially for tips at a restaurant. I get the cash in an envelope and then transfer the money to my wallet. Yesterday, when I went to put the cash in my wallet, the cash was in dollar amount order, but not all facing the same direction - that drives me crazy. I must have the money in my wallet in dollar amount order, and all facing the same direction. Back in the good ol days - a teller at the bank I use would never give a customer/client money not perfectly organized, but for the last several years, it happens all the time. It is what it is - I just make sure it’s correct in my wallet. So what’s your thoughts on this today…..

Do you have to have your cash organized?
If yes….
Is your cash in dollar amount order, facing the same direction, or both?
(multiple choice)

For Me……Yes, my cash must be in order in dollar amount and direction. I’m neurotic about it, even when playing games like Monopoly.

It’s called Bank facing - they don’t do this anymore - I’m old - I’ve been handling cash for 40 yrs in my Accounting jobs and this was taught to me WAY back in the day !!!
I keep my personal cash same way - I’m very picky on how I want my cash and what order and Yes it’s all bank faced !!
I’ve found over the years most people don’t care - they just shove it in their pocket - I can’t do that 🤣🤣

I sort by denomination but don’t care which way it’s facing. I sort by denominations to make it easier to reach into my wallet and pull out something specific when shopping.

I'm a little lazy about how my cash is organized. I sometimes put it in dollar order, but not always. But I don't like any upside-down bills.

I carry a little more than a change purse. Just big enough to jam a bunch of CC, DL, etc and some folded cash. I usually don't know what I have, but I do know it's more than $2. Just not is it $10 or $50. We use CC for most things, but I hate charging for those 2 items at the dollar store or just running into store for milk.

I organize by dollar amount and facing the same way, but I am surprised you go to a bank to cash your check! We use direct deposit or mobile deposit, the only reason I go into a bank is if I need a few 5's because the ATM only gives 50, 20, 10,and 1's. And that's pretty rare that I need cash, mostly when we travel or I need small bills to give the people playing music at the farmer's market on Saturday.

I usually like having $30 or $40 on me unless I'm going to the casino. I don't care how organized it is. My retirement checks are all direct deposited which is very helpful, tho.

Organized. Dollar amounts, right side up, facing the same way.

I'll get $200 from ATM msybe every 6 or 7 weeks. It comes out all 20's. l then drive around the bank building to live drive-in teller, give them 3 20's and ask for 30 or 40 singles and 4 or 6 5's. I then pull over in the bank lot and face correctly and put in my money clip. I never go in a bank.

I use credit cards for all my purchases. I think almost all my cash money is used for Walmart pickup tips and goes to the grandkids.

I rarely carry cash anymore, but if I do it is definitely in order and all right-side-up, facing the same way. It just doesn't make sense not to do that.

It is so rare for me to have cash on hand. If I do, I just jam it in my wallet. I prefer to use cards or apps because I find I spend less money if I'm working down to the penny with regard to purchases and tips. I absolutely loath going to the ATM or bank because these days, it makes me feel like such a target for thieves looking for some quick cash. Heck, I don't even like checks. Paycheck is always direct deposit ACH and if you're paying me back for something, I like people to use Venmo, Zelle, etc.

Even if I'm working as a cashier (concession duty these days...part time job in my college years), I have no cares about which way the bills face. While I'm quite capable of making change, a credit card is so much easier...both for processing and balancing at the end of the shift. This may be some logic against my budgeting comment above, but from a business standpoint, patrons also spend more when they use cards.

I rarely carry cash but if I do its in denomination order. Having said that in the UK the notes are different sizes and colours dependent of the amount, so its easy to pick out

I took out cash in several denominations for our cruise last week. I used it to purchase merchandise in the ports, give tips for our cruise attendants and in the casino. Other than those occasions, I don't carry cash.

I don't really carry an actual wallet/purse, but when I do, it would have the bills arranged by denomination and facing the same way. I know when we'd play board games, monopoly, etc. money all to be facing the same way.
I carry a pocket card holder, and I have several bills folded up in there, usually couple 5s, 1s, and maybe a 10. that's just for tips and emergencies. I also keep some small bills like that in the car. Several years ago, went to the movies to meet a friend, and their credit card machines were down, so cash only. Luckily I scrounged up enough to go, but that makes me always want to have a little cash handy all the time.

Usually don't have cash on me, no need for any organizing any small amount I might have.
