We took possession of our current home almost exactly a year ago and actually relocated last September. We did a full cosmetic reno on the new place that wasn't completely finished until Easter. Between the stress of the sale & purchase, the huge downsizing efforts in packing up our beloved previous home and living in 6 months of total chaos, it was one of the most unpleasant experiences of our lives. :scared: Pretty sure we're done moving until we "move" to extended care or the cemetery.

It was me. I moved from Philly to this small town in New Jersey. I've been here going on I think 16 years.

We moved into our current home 6 yr ago. We plan on staying here a long time.

Last year, my MIL had a change of address (she died), so we moved all of her stuff out of her house. That was quite an ordeal.

In a little over 2 weeks, we're going to move ODD into her freshman dorm at college.

College moves, pretty much every year for the past 6 years.

We also helped move my parents out of the house we grew up in to a ranch style home a few miles away. They hired a moving company for the heavy furniture, but my siblings and I moved the remainder of the stuff in advance of that. This was a couple months ago.

We also helped a friend move her psychiatric practice from one office building to another a couple weeks ago. She rented a UHaul and a number of us moved all the desks, chairs, etc.

I helped my DD24 move to an apartment in 2019 when she was a junior in college. She and her BF moved themselves out in 2020 during Covid.

I was a Navy brat when I was a kid and moved all the time. My DH and I bought a house in October 1992 and we have never moved. We have neighbors who have been in their house even longer. Unfortunately, that means I have a LOT of stuff that needs to find it's way out of my house sooner rather than later.

I've only moved once since I was adopted. I did move dozens and dozens of times prior to my adoption though. Everything I owned was put in a trash bag and off I went to a new home. I now donate to a charity called "Hope In A Suitcase" where foster kids are given suitcases for their belongings instead of a trash bag or box. They do other things as well, but the most important is removing the stigma of a trash bag. I'll do whatever I can to make sure less children have to deal with knowing their whole lives are represented by a trash bag.

Most of my stuff is in storage in another state and I am living with my parents until sometime in the fall...maybe winter. I have to stay in new state and maybe county for at least 4 more months plus. I am spoiled right nowby my parents' cooking while I create my new life with my dog.

I've moved a LOT!!!! Last was helping DD-25 this past spring.

Married in 1996, moved into apartment with hubby. 1997 we moved to another apartment and 1998 we moved out of state. 1999 we moved to another state (all these moves were due to job changes for the hubby). 2000 we moved into a brand new house we built. 2002 we moved to another state (for a job switch again). 2005 we moved to upsize/upgrade our house. 2007 we moved back to our home state and lived there, in same house, until 2017.

In 2017 we moved back out of state as empty nest. Then moved to another state in 2020 and then moved again to another state (Florida) in 2022 and still live there. In 2020 DH had switched jobs again and we really didn't need to move to that job's location as covid started around then and he went right into WFH and has stayed WFH so we could have stayed in the 2017 house and not moved but we didn't know. The Florida move was to be where we have wanted to be all along (lived north all these years).

2017-2024 we moved our 3 college/20something kids in and out of dorms and various apartments....many many times with last one being one DD-25 this past spring. She has basically moved every year since 2017. DS-27, we've only helped move 3 times. Other DD-25, has been one less move than her twin as she now has been in same apartment for a 2nd year (renewed lease).

We've also had a couple 2nd condo/apartments we've kept over the past 9 years at various times that we've moved in and out of (not really full moves as some were furnished to various degrees and/or we kept limited stuff there).

My elderly mom renovated her house in 2017 so I helped purge and pack it to clear out each space for renovations and then unpack each space as it was done. Then she sold said house in 2021 and had to move to an apartment for a year while her new home was built. I, again, packed/purged her house. Moved her stuff to storage and apartment and a year later (in 2022) moved her into her new house. All of which was ill timed to be in concurrent with our own big moves.

So, yep, moved a lot over the years. But 2017 to now has been constant moving between us, my 3 kids and my mom. And I am older now and it is soooooo much a difficult PITA. Exhausting!! Hate it!!! HATE IT!!!! Really don't want to do EVER again. But my mom is talking about her move being a mistake and she wants to go back to where she was.....ugh.

From 1996-2021 we lived in just 3 states (all east coast), just moved in and out of those 3 states a few times. Then, 2022 we moved to FL (well, in 2021 we bought a vacay condo in FL and then re-sold it and our northern home in 2022 to buy a permanent home in FL).

DH and I have only done one major move as a married couple and that was in 2001. We only had 1 child and moved from a townhouse to a single family home. As a kid I only ever lived in 1 home—my dad is still there—and DH only 2.

We did “move” to Boston for a year for his work, but we kept our home here so it was mostly just clothes and kitchen things and a bit of furniture. We accumulated more furniture there though so the move back home required a U-Haul.

And our kids are moving in and out of dorms and apartments every year right now. That gets harder every year.

...my DH and I went to Florida this past January to help our DS move from Winter Garden to Flamingo Crossings....now he's literally a stone's throw from WDW!

We're in the process of helping DD/SIL pack up and move into their new house! Exciting, but exhausting!

It looks like I be purging most of my storage soon since moving furniture is costly (the best of what is still decent is going to a charity dear to my heart that works with low income and homeless population. I am going to have to repack what I want and that is a big job still. I don't want to trash my wedding dress yet or other memories. I hope my life will be like a Hallmark movie soon than Lifetime. It is been a tough year, but on the bright side...my parents are enjoying having me around. I am enjoying gardening again plus relearn past skills like helping my Dad with repairs to plumbing and soon fixing the walls for new paint. I am going to learning wallpaper removal at this rate. My skills will be useful when I get my own place with my own taste in furniture. I hope to buy some custom pieces from the Amish/Mennonite businesses that my parents used when they replaced their dining room set and bedroom pieces. Their stuff looks great years later.

22 years since we last moved. The longest we have ever lived in one house
...we too lived in our previous house for 22 years before moving into our current one....it's 8 years now at our latest home....

We last helped someone move almost 4 years ago.

Technically when my husband did field assignments in 2015, 2016 and 2019 he moved to those locations (3 total in 3 different states). I only helped with the car being shipped and then on his move in 2016 on his way back home.

We've been in our present house almost 10 years now.
