Summertime is such a wonderful time to eat ice cream in various forms, We’re narrowing it down to ice cream sandwiches today. They really are a wonderful treat regardless if you eat them at home or away. So tell us today…..

What is your opinion of ice cream sandwiches?
If you eat them…..what type do you enjoy?
(m.c.)

For Me…..I like them, but I eat them rarely. The last time I had an ice cream sandwich was at The Contemporary Resort in June 2023. DD21 and I each got one to eat while we waited to watch HEA from there. The one in the picture below looks so good. I got this picture Disney Food Blog and I’m going to try to remember to try it in March.

We usually stick to grocery store ones.

But for my 50th, we hit all four parks. At that time, they had park Happy Birthday pins and I wanted all four. We started at MK, early early, stayed for a couple of hours, at about 10 ish, walking out of MK eating an ice cream sandwich from the bakery. I remember someone comes into the parks saying "that looks good". That was the only time I bought one at disney.

Ice cream sandwiches are OK. I like them but they usually aren't something we buy. However, we needed some "summer snacks" for the Resident 8 Year Old so we currently have ice cream sandwiches in the freezer (fudgsicles, too). I will occasionally buy a Mickey ice cream sandwich while at Disney. I don't like the big ice cream sandwiches on full-sized "real" cookies. They are too sweet for me, and also too much to eat... and I don't like candy in my ice cream (or cookies, usually- I know, I'm weird) so that pretty much rules out the big ice cream sandwiches, like the one pictured.

Love them !! I’ve been eating them a lot this summer because I have been craving them!! Just recently polished off a box and I did not replace the box
We used to make them a lot when I was a kid I prefer homemade but haven’t made them in years
My boss keeps a steady supply of them at work but I try and forget this as I don’t need to eat junk nonstop and he has tons of it !!
I do enjoy getting one in the Parks ice cream on vacation always taste better !!

Very rarely these days. I like them.

When the 2 grandkids were here most every day, Marie kept some store ones in the freezer. I'd 'sneak' one now and then.

I remember when I was a kid, my mom would sometimes make homemade ones from those regtangular vanilla sugar wafer cookies and a slice of ice cream. Very good.

That sounds tasty, Bobbi!

I no longer eat ice cream really but I did at one time enjoy store bought ice cream sandwiches mostly plain vanilla but sometimes cookies and cream or mint and chip. I do have the sweet memory from 8 years ago of a church friend making me a delectable ice cream sandwich birthday cake using both vanilla ice cream sandwiches and mint cookies and cream ice cream. That was a rich treat indeed.

I used to like them....never eat them anymore.
I always have some in the freezer for the grand kids since they are over almost every week.
I used to make home made ones and also buy them for my kid's when they were younger.

DD used to love (must do every trip) getting them from the ice cream shop on main street.
She can't anymore because of her wheat allergy :(

I"m voting for myself-never eat them.
But DH LOVES them. There's a box now in the freezer, for his snacking. Loves them out and about like in a theme park, and at home, eats a lot of the store bought ones, sometimes generic brands, sometimes gets fancy.

I like the ones that are made fresh with real cookies, because the cookie retains its texture while eating it. Any good quality cookie is fine, whether chocolate chip, sugar, chocolate . . . They’re all good. I also like having the ability to customize the combination of cookie and ice cream flavors, like a gingerbread cookie with dulce de leche ice cream. Yum!

I don’t particularly like the generic ones you get at the grocery store. The cookie part is either very hard, or really mushy and gets all over your hands. I am more inclined to buy good quality ice cream bars to have in the home freezer than ice cream sandwiches.

I like the boxed kind pretty well, but haven't had one in a while. There is this place that I have visited while travelling called Baked Bear, and they make custom ice cream sandwiches with your choice of cookies, ice cream, and mix-ins, then they stick the whole thing in a panini press for just a few seconds, so the cookies get warm - not enough to melt the ice cream. It's pretty good! There isn't one around here, but I whish there was. Actually, maybe it's better that there isn't! 🤣

They’re not my favourite but I like them fine. I buy several boxes of grocery store ones over the course of a summer. I’d never think to order one as a dessert or buy a fancier one from anywhere though.

I'm not a huge fan of the standard grocery store ones with the softer chocolate cookie (the cookie disintegrates too easily), but I remember when the Chipwich first came out and that was BIG! We prefer to do a home version. I usually look for day old bakery cookies on the sale rack since they are still pretty fresh, but hardened enough to be a good foundation. Then it's favorite ice cream and whatever sprinkles/toppings I have around the house.

I like them, but it’s been many years since I’ve had one. As a kid, used to get flying saucers from Carvel as a special treat.

I like them. I never buy them to have at home, but would eat one at a party or something if they were offered.

The best were the ice cream cookie sandwiches at AK made with Haagen Dazs ice cream.
