Today is National Junk Food Day - yes, you read that right. I’m not sure there should be a special day set aside for junk food when it’s so unhealthy for you, but it is what it is. I’d be willing to bet we all eat junk food at some time, because it’s so tasty and sometimes so convenient to eat - fast food is everywhere now. When I was a kid there was no fast food in my town (I still live in the same town). Now we have so many of them - it’s crazy - they are everywhere. It’s like they are popping up out of the ground. I’ll keep my opinions to myself with how I feel about that. We’re not talking about just fast food places, we’re talking about all junk foods. I looked up what the top 10 are and this was what I found…..

Now that we know that….we can proceed with the poll. I only have 10 poll slots and since I need an “other” option, because there will be many many many others for people, I’m eliminating beer since that’s a beverage. So, let’s pack on the carbs and calories and discuss our favorite junk foods…..

For Me……I’m a pretty healthy eater, but I do eat junk foods sometimes. I chose….
Pizza - I eat it every Sunday
Chocolate - I eat about 15 Nonpareils every Sunday
“Other” Pretzels - I eat these as a snack sometimes on a lazy Sunday when I’m watching TV (like yesterday)
“Other” Cheez Its - I eat 15 of these with my lunch every day.

*I do very much enjoy the other things in the poll, but I don’t eat them on a regular basis, so therefore I didn’t vote for them.

Guilty beyond belief - I’m a horrible eater I rarely eat healthy I’ll own it And I don’t so much eat a lot of fast food restaurants I will upon occasions like yesterday I had McDonald’s I have not had it in ages but I did have it yesterday had me a big Mac and a frozen Coke and french fries it was delicious
I eat frozen pizza at least once a week
I eat pretzels all the time
I have a chocolate addiction that I need a 12 step program for
I eat salads I tried to eat one at least every two weeks I’m not so sure they’re the healthiest of salads
I do not Cook fried food So that’s a step in the right direction I rarely eat process meat But I eat way too beef 🥩 I’m not a fan of chicken But I do love turkey 🦃 And I will eat salmon 🍣 I need to work on improving my diet
As for restaurant choices in my area they’re all fast food If they’re not fast food they are those pub style restaurants that sell nothing but fried foods Or salad salads full of fried foods So I rarely eat out
The only reason I got McDonald’s yesterday was because I was really busy and I wanted something to eat really quick
I try not to eat chocolate every day I would say I get on a binge and eat chocolate and then I stopped eating it for a while same thing goes with ice cream My stopping me last a month maybe two and then I’ll let chocolate for a couple of weeks and then I’ll go back off of it again
Considering my age I highly doubt this habit is gonna change🤣🤣🤣🤣
 
Ice cream and chocolate are my two top junk food items. I will also eat corn chips or potato chips frequently. Otherwise, I try to stay away from really bad items, like donuts.
 
I'm in a huge ice cream phase right now and I'm picky.....it has to be Breyer's Creamy Vanilla. :thumbsup2
 

We eat a lot of pizza, burgers and fries. That’s our healthy eating.

My family eats chips, chocolate and icecream like rabid dogs.
 
I eat chips all the time, and also deli meats. Really, my number one would be sugar cereal, but it wasn't on the list.

chocolate is my number one......so addicted, but always semi sweet or dark. Every day at least a few chocolate chips

chips are next. I try to stay away from them, but they are always in the house. I buy the boxes with the smaller bags, so at least I have some control.

any ice cream I eat is carb balance.
 
Of the things you listed, I picked processed meat because I pack a ham sandwich for lunch at least 3 days out of 5. I never considered it junk food though. Although I do like them, a lot of the things on the list are deep fried or very fatty and that makes them a NO because of my reflux. We took a road trip this weekend and in a reckless moment I bought a bag of chips. I’m still regretting it. 🤢

My biggest weakness by far isn’t even on the list. It’s candy, which if I’m being honest, I eat almost as often as ham sandwiches.
 
We used to eat a LOT of ice cream (Chicagoland). Now that we're in Florida and have a 15 minute drive to/from the grocery store, we don't buy it much -- takes a cooler and planning. A bit ironic, eh?

I'm not sure what they mean by processed meats -- hot dogs and brats? I have deli meat with lunch nearly every day, but don't really consider that "junk food?"
 
It’s been a rocky start but I’m actually slowly declining any sweet drinks or other sweet stuff that isn’t Mickey shaped… and when I do end up snagging coffee I get it straight black without the sugary cuts or creamy edits. Drinking frappes at home doesn’t seem as magical as drinking a Joffrey’s Frozen Cappuccino Dream now. Thanks Disney.
 
I have a weakness for pretty much everything on this list and more, however for the past few years I've been on a healthy eating kick and have managed to cut most of the above out on a regular basis. The only time I tend to eat proper junk food now is when:

a) I'm hungover (which doesnt happen often anymore as I cant handle the drinking, let alone the 2 day hangover that follows)
b) I'm travelling or out somewhere on a day trip
c) It's a special occasion or special treat, like eating out for a birthday or celebration
d) I'm feeling that desperate and low that I need something as a pick me up.

On a day to day basis I tend to eat healthier versions of junk food, like a burger will be a lean one without excessive toppings or fries will be homemade, not fried in fat/oil. Treats wise I'll have Skinny chocolate bars/snacks or something else fairly low cal. As its summer, my current go to snack is an ice cream wafer sandwich. The only thing on the list i do eat regularly is processed meats as I have ham a few times a week in sandwiches.
 
I only eat out when I am on vacation. I do eat some of the items on the poll, but prepared at home. For example, I might make a burger and fries, but the burger is lean ground beef and the fries are actually a real potato that I cut into wedges and bake. Or I will make a homemade pizza with lots of veggies instead of ordering delivery. If I don’t buy any junk food at the grocery store then I can’t eat it. I don’t fry much of anything, except the occasional veggie stir fry.

My big weakness is ice cream, but it has gotten so expensive that it has to be on a really good sale for me to buy any.
 
We rarely eat out. Just too expensive. Still have teens/young adults with us and too expensive to buy for 4 adults. Maybe order pizza every couple months.

Sometimes we have chips on the weekend. I'm type 2 diabetes so limit sweets - but sure I will have couple cookies sometimes.

And yes we have frozen french fries and deli meat all the time.
DH and I did get ice cream on Saturday afternoon - tried a new place while we were out doing errands.
