A friend was super into the Hunger Games--she bought me the book a month before the movie released and bought my ticket to the movie. I enjoyed the book and the movie, but not enough to pursue the series. I didn't read the complete series until 2022--when I was determining if it was ok for my rising 5th grader.

Books are all incredibly well done in my opinion. This is one of the single best examples in modern literature of to properly write a strong female lead imho. Katnis is nearly perfectly written to me. Troubled, flawed, proper character arc, and has an incredible evolution of that character as the books / movies progress. Best written female hero since Ellen Ripley in Alien imho, which is my favorite Sci-Fi movie of all time after the original Star Wars Trilogy.

Oh yeah my bad, a brain fart there. I love the Harry Potter books as well as you can tell.

Haven't read the books or seen the movies. I don't do dystopian. It makes me too anxious. I want to be entertained by my reading/watching, not made uncomfortable.

I read the books and watched the movies. With the books, I felt like it was more of a two-book story that got stretched to three books. By the end, I was going "come on! really?" with some of the writing. Additionally, this was a rare instance where I felt the movies were better than the books (by doing a better job of rounding out the story). I also felt there was some casting issues with the male characters, although I am a fan of Jennifer Lawrence in the movies. Overall, though... I really liked the dystopian plot. It's also held up with my students through the years too. It's one of the books I see them reading throughout the school year.

Oh a side note, if you're visiting the Atlanta area and a fan of the Hunger Games, you should visit the Swan House which was used in the movies. We happened on it by chance and it was very impressive.

I read all three books. The author had another book series, aimed at a younger audience, that my son had really liked (Gregor the Overlander, I think.) I enjoyed the books...and I watched the first movie and thought it was... okay. I'm not sure that i'd call myself a "fan" but I don't dislike them either.

Watched all of the movies. Disliked all of them. Why did I see the next movie in the series when I'd not cared for the prior ones? I kept thinking, "Maybe this one will be better." Every time, ended up with, "Nope, that one sucked, too."

And now there's a prequel movie that's coming out...not going to bother seeing that one.

I did read the book series, mostly because of my nephews and niece. My brother is not a reader and so I tend to read the things the kids are interested in just to let my brother know of things that might be too mature up for them. Tried really, really hard to keep my niece from reading those horrible twilight books. It didn’t work…

I have not seen any of the movies for this reason. Reading the books about children being used for death sports was bad enough. I didn’t feel comfortable watching a movie showing that. It made me feel like I was a resident of the capital.

I saw the movies once they came to TV, not in theaters. They were OK, especially the first 2, I liked Jennifer Lawrence in them. The last ones seemed too slow moving, although I liked the surprise ending. Never interested enough to read the books.

Unfortunately the movie premise hits close to home since guns have become the number one killer of children and teens in this country. Kids are killing each other every day.

Read the books, saw the movies, enjoyed them all.
Parts of the second movie were filmed at the International Park, or the "Beach" as we call it, which is only a couple miles from my house.

In addition to having seen all of the movies, and I am fan, “Other” because while I haven’t read the books, I’ve listened to them on Audible many times.

I am a huge fan I watch the movies a lot and reread the books several times a year. I have only read the prequel once so far.
