A beautiful neighbor boy was killed in Vietnam when I was a child. Also, I didn't know him, but my grandmother's brother was killed in WWII. Both so young.

Important day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

A distant cousin was killed in the Civil War, fighting for the North.
My uncle was killed on the USS Forrestal in the terrible fire they had.
I never got the chance to meet him.
DH's dad, my dad, and many other men in my family all served in the military
but none that I know of faced combat of any kind.

My father died while considered active military. He did 2 tours in Vietnam but died at home in a motorcycle accident. He was a lifetime Navy man.
