While I consider my wife my best friend, my best friend and I grew up on the same street and have been best fiends since we were 4 years old (66 years!!). We still get together at least once a week for lunch or a couple of beers. We also socialize with our wives occasionally. I also had another best friend that joined us in high school but he passed away in 2021.

My best friend is my DH. We met when I was 19 and he is still my favorite person to be around. We just have fun and I can tell him anything. We laugh at each other's dumb jokes and we like to do the same things. He will always go to Disney with me, put up with my crazy ideas, and drop everything if I need him. I would do anything for him. Neither one of us had a safe childhood. So we get each other and have helped each other heal over past traumas that still kind of linger even as you age. He is probably the only person to ever really love me besides my kids. I am glad he is my bestie and I am thankful for every second I have had with him.

3 women that I consider my best friends. One I have been friends with for 39 years. One I have been friends with for 36 years. One I have been friends with for 14 years. All compliment different parts of me.

My BFF was my college roommate, I’ve known her for 25 years. We are still as close now as then. We just went on vacation with her and her husband and saw them on Saturday for lunch.

I also have a group of friends I am very close with, we’ve all been friends since college. We have girls weekend in November and everyone and their husbands are doing a group cruise next summer.

I feel fortunate to have such wonderful friends in my life.

I do have a best friend. Honestly she's practically my only friend which I really don't mind. Anyone else I call a friend is more like someone I'll hang out with once a year or mostly just talk to via chat.

We have known each other since 1st grade which was 32yrs ago.
I would say we have been BEST friends for 28yrs.
We just hang out on Friday.

DD lives nearby and is my mini-me. We just plain like to do the same things and have a good time together. She's my bestie.
But..I have a friend I met 52 years ago and even though she lives an hour away, we meet up for lunch as often as possible -- try for once a month. We both really enjoy being together. There's always lots of sharing and no judging. I think that's why we both still value the friendship.

My sister is my best friend. We see each other just about every weekend since I moved across the bridge into NJ, we travel together, and I know I can count on her for everything. She understands me better than anyone else, I guess because she was there for my life and watched it all unfold, and ditto for me, and we have the shared experience of childhood.

I have a best friend who has been my best friend since we were in 8th grade. That would be over 50 years. We don't live in the same state and don't see each other that often but when we get to together it's like we were just together the day before. We don't talk on the phone a lot either, I'm not a phone person.

I have several girl friends some that go back 40+ years. We ebb and flow on closeness but I know that I could always call them and they will always be there.

My best friend will never be a child. I won't tell intimate things to my child such as fights with their father, finances, past relationship talk, etc.

I enjoy spending time with my spouse (and previously my mother to a degree) but nothing replaces a good girlfriend bond. It's very different than a marital bond. I have a spouse and then my close friends. I need both.

To me a best friend is a friend you have early in your life and as a young adult. Sometimes that person remains in your life, but the nature of the relationship may have changed drastically.. Kind of hard not for it to change as people move to different cities, change jobs, get married, get divorced, get married again.
My wife and her best friend have been friends for 50 years, but their relationship now is far different than it was 50 years ago. I had a best friend through Junior High School, High School and College, but as life happened, we kind of went different ways, even though about 20 years ago he moved less than mile from me.

Hmmm, best friend. Well, 4 of my very best friends have passed away in the past several years. All very dear friends, good buddies. I guess that's what happens when you get old like me. One was from about our ages 10 or so The other 3 I met in my 20's.

Best friend now? Tough question. I have good friends. I have Marie. But in context, for me, I would not say she was my 'best friend' in the context of 'best friend' here, non spouse. Actually, going through thoughts here now, I think I could say a best friend for me could be a person I met here on these boards over 23 years ago. Though no longer active here, we have a contact probably weekly. Family updates, extended family, health, or lack of health (ha) updates, weather, successes/lack of successes, life plans, life in general. Sometimes just a 'hi, how ya doing?' Yeah, I think I could say this person is a 'best friend'.

The only person that I consider my “Bestie” is DD21 - she’s the one that I have the absolute most fun with, and I enjoy being with her more than anyone (no offense to my DH, my DD21 and I just have such a strong connection - we’re like peanut butter and jelly). So my answer today is my best friend is a family member, and she’s been my best friend for about five years, since she’s been about 16 years old.
That's so nice. It's what I would expect you to say.

I'd say I've got 2. NOT family members. One we started teaching in NYC in the same Fellows cohort 19 years ago. The other I've known for about 18 months but we just click.

My best friend is my sister. We get along very well and she’s the one person I can trust for anything. I have had a lot of good friends over the years, but she’s the best.
