👻🎃 Welcome to Halloween Week everyone! 🎃👻

Many houses are decorated for Halloween, and yours may be one of them. Some decorations are really fun and cute…..

And some are dark, scary and sometimes gory…..

Now that you’ve seen the above pictures, gives us your spooky opinion today…..

What type of outside Halloween decorations do you prefer - scary or cute?
If you decorate outside, what type do you have?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..I like cute Halloween decorations, it’s what we have at home and also what I like to look at. I think that many scary Halloween decorations are not appropriate for young children’s eyes. I’m not going to get on my soap box about it, but I will say that I’m glad that people didn’t decorate with the items they decorate with today when my girls were little.

I think mine would fall more along the lines of cute than scary - compared to what you can purchase these days and put up minor more scary cute - yes I do have skeletons but they’re sitting on patio furniture having fun I have headstones but they’re with pumpkins and that’s about as scary as my decorations get- headstones and lots of pumpkins and they’re not scary pumpkins I have a lot of live pumpkins gourds mums hay bales - so I’d say my decorations are like fall with some Halloween thrown in but it’s cute Halloween 🎃 I have a tiny little graveyard with one skeleton buried coming up out of the ground with a headstone in front of it and a patch of ground where the grass is dead so I thought that would look cute to put him there that’s about as scary as my yard gets
I do like the scary decorations I have several neighbors that put up some really nice scary decorations I also enjoy the cute decorations - my subdivision has a contest every year for best decorations and scary usually wins !

My outdoor decorations are cute. They are also very simple. I have strand of orange lights around the outside entrance. And I have an electric string of orange pumpkins, which are about 5 inches in diameter. I don't want to scare the little kids. :)

🎃

All I have up so far is a wreath, and it's definitely more cute than scary. I have a "spider web" of purple lights I'll put up for trick-or-treat itself, which I guess is scary if you happen to hate spiders - but it's not gory, just lights. We used to have a foam monster head that DS won as a prize, and one neighbor kid was scared of it, so if that was by the door, I would walk down the steps to give him his treats so he didn't have to get close to it.

Overall, I like cute better than scary, and themed stuff the best. I saw a blurb on the news about a Willy Wonka themed house in Boston, and another done in Harry Potter stuff!

I have a mixture.....but not really scary or cute.
We had planned more scary but never got around to getting it done.....that was years ago.
So now, it is what it is and that's the way it's staying

I have no Halloween decorations this year, just pumpkins and gourds for Fall. The mums have withered to a crisp with no rain in the NE. To me, the dead mums are scary, haha! But, in all seriousness, as a family, we prefer cute decorations over scary ones. The one caveat is the comical and creative arrangements of skeletons that have become popular like @WDWEPCOT has at her table. We LOVE spotting those around town!

I can't say my decorations, but rather our, or more correctly, Marie's decorations. She goes more cute. A number of scarecrows on sticks in flower beds and other landscape areas. A few ghosts, witches, a Mickey. Subtle and nice, just right.

I like both types... any creative display catches my attention. But I don't decorate my own home ...I'm just not around enough to enjoy/maintain it.

I have cute only. Years ago my daughter wanted scary because she said all my decorations had the ghosts etc smiling.

Mine are cute and before some things broke, kind of funny. In our old house, I had some things that were motion/noise activated. They looked cute, but more of a jump scare sort of set up. I used to have a very basic looking ghost that would fly between my trees towards the walkway to my front door if sound set it off. Just before arriving at the front door, I had a "shrub shaker" that was noise and motion activated. It was basically a goofy looking monster face that had eyes that would light up, it would roar and shake the bushes. While I am impressed with some of the over the top creepy to full on scary ones, I know it often terrifies the little kids.

I like both, and both have their place. I tend to prefer Haunted Mansion style, which is kind of both cute and scary. I like it to have a little fun in it for sure.
I think we tend to lean more scary than cute. I live on a busy corner across from an Elementary school. Over the years, I’ve seen little kids point to my house and say to their parents, I wanna go to that house on Halloween. I think many young children are drawn to the scary side of Halloween.

Living in a multi residential building, most of the decor is located in the lobby not individual apartment doors. I guess the decor is a mixture of cute and scary.

I never really jumped on board with the over the top decorating for Halloween.
And while I love scary movies and even haunted houses with a guy chasing you with a chainsaw I don't really care for scary Halloween decor displays in front of people's houses.
I rather see pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks, maybe spider webs.... but these creepy 20ft inflatables of like slender man or whatever are just not my scene.

That said I can't wait for Christmas decor!

Only decorated cute outside and inside. Didn’t like the idea of scaring littles. However, we only decorate the inside now. Too many times there was theft so we pulled the plug on all outside holiday decorations about 10 years ago.

All of our stuff is Disney/Haunted Mansion, both inside and out. Mostly cute, but the HM stuff is awesome. We bought the Hallmark Haunted Mansion set. It's technically for a Christmas tree, but we have it set up on the mantle in the living room.

Here's what it looks like

I like watching scary movies and whatnot during Spooky Season, but for decorations I definitely prefer cute. Like it's fun to see scary ones but it's not something I would do personally.

I decorate a little bit outside with some cuter stuff. I'm actually in the middle of a pocket of neighbors who do not like Halloween at all, so there's that. Sometimes I'm tempted to get a bunch of those really creepy zombie babies that you buy at Spirit Halloween and put them all over my yard just to mess with the neighbors, but I'm too nice of a person.
