My husband LOVES carving pumpkins. I hate it, so that's something I was fine letting him handle it from start to finish when the kids were growing up.

I love enjoying other people's creativity, though!

No carving here. I hate the smell and the slime. I have a ceramic jack-o-lantern that I can put a battery operated candle in, and that does the job for me.

I also hate the smell and feel of pumpkin guts, so it's a hige no for me! We used to do it when I was a kid, but I really got over it. I am also not particularly good at it, so mine never did turn out that nice anyway.

I put "somewhat like"... I like carving. I do not enjoy scooping. And I don't like the smell of pumpkin guts. But we carve every year, even now that the kids are grown. I don't really do "halloween decorations" but we always have a couple of jack-o-lanterns out for trick-or-treat.

I love carving! I’m a generally artistic and crafty person so I enjoy carving. Each member of our family carves one. Haven’t carved yet this year (too early) but here’s my boogie oogie pumpkin from last year

I enjoy carving pumpkins, and will probably do one the weekend before Halloween. I don't know whether it will be happy, scary, or what, though.

Here are some old ones (photos of photos, so not super high quality, but you get the idea) -

I enjoy the carving, but not the scooping. Ick! :crazy2:

The kids enjoy carving pumpkins, so we will attempt to carve a few this year.

I'm on the opposite side ... I don't mind the scooping too much, but I don't want to carve. It's so thick and difficult to get the knife through, it kind of makes my hand get uncomfortable. And I'm not skilled enough with a knife to do small cuts at all. Usually my kids will plan a design on each, my husband will carve them, and I'll participate with the scooping. I definitely wouldn't be doing it if there weren't kids involved.

We have pumpkins but don't carve or decorate them. After Halloween we use them in our Thanksgiving decorations and after that we put them at our local nature preserve (with permission). The wildlife love them.

I don't particularly like carving pumpkins. Had to do it as a kid and I hated the feel of scooping out the insides.

Anyway, I paint pumpkins with my godson. This year he decided to mix all the paint colors together and paint the entire thing and so now we have a grayish brown pumpkin.

I occasionally paint a pumpkin if I'm in the mood. I turn it on its side and use the stem as a nose. One year when I still lived in South Philly I painted a witch pumpkin and I put it out on my front step with my other decorations. Someone else must have liked it a lot, because within two days it had been stolen.

I don’t plan to carve any pumpkins this year but I will take one or two apart to cook the seeds.

I had zero luck growing them this year but my dad had a great year. He grew all of these. The majority will go to my friends chickens at the end of the season.

I don't mind carving pumpkins and I love fresh seeds for roasting, but we rarely do it due to the heat here. At one point, I tried my hand at more intricate carving with all of the fancy little tools. It turned out pretty nicely, but it wasn't worth the effort since it started showing obvious signs of rotting after a day or 2. Hence why I usually paint mine...IF I do anything festive and decorative. Ultimately, it's going to to be nearly 90 degrees all week and while we cooled off for a bit last week, we hit a high of 99 last Monday and 96 last Tuesday. So, we rarely get pumpkins until right before Halloween. It's just too much effort to paint and carve like this for something that's only going to be out a couple of nights.

WOW!!!! On all of these! So creative. They look great, all of them!!

I admire those who attack the pumpkins with creative zest. They turn out amazing!! I just don’t have it in me. Glad the pumpkin-carving days are over.
