I do this poll every year, because we may have new DIS friends participating with the polls and because our answer could change. Carving pumpkins is a yearly activity for many of us. Some of us really enjoy it and some of would rather clean toilets instead :lmao:. Share with us today what you think about this topic…..

What is your opinion of carving pumpkins?
Will you being carving pumpkins this year?
Will your pumpkins be a happy jack-o’-lantern or a scary jack-o’-lantern?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..I’m the one that would rather clean toilets :lmao:I’ve never liked carving pumpkins:sad2:. It’s so yucky and icky - I hate the feel of that slime. I hate the sound of scraping the inside of the pumpkin. Yuck yuck yuck! But I always did it with a smile with my girls. Needless to say, I’m not carving any pumpkins this year. I have fake one that light up with a light bulb - they are on a timer, and I love those! 🙂👍🏻

I've never been big on carving pumpkins, even when kids were little. Did a few, but not many. But haven't carved one in about 30 ish years.

Maybe because my art talent is on par with a one year old.

I enjoyed doing it when I was a kid and with my kids ! It was great fun making the pumpkins we would do several - some scary some funny - I haven’t done one in years and have no plans to do one anytime in the future - no grandkids to do one with .

I do not like it. I helped the boys, along with my husband, for years. Then a few years ago I sliced my finger open, and I said I was done. Dh still helps them, but I do not. I do plenty of other holiday traditions with them, so I don't feel bad about this one.

I don't like carving them. I helped my kids when they were young. I have helped the grand kids when they had a party at their house.....but DS can do it now. I don't have "real" pumpkins here. It's too hot and they don't last long.

I am SO not a fan of pumpkin carving. It's messy, dangerous work, you have to remember to light it up every night, and then there's the mess of getting rid of it. No, thanks; grateful my pumpkin carving days are over! [The resident 8 year old usually paints his pumpkin so "it lasts longer." Wonder who thought up that one? :scratchin:thumbsup2)

I always carved pumpkins when I had kids and grandkids who wanted to do it. I even saved the pumpkins seeds to bake, or boil, and eat later. But I no longer have to do that task. :)

I don't mind carving pumpkins and I love fresh seeds for roasting, but we rarely do it due to the heat here. At one point, I tried my hand at more intricate carving with all of the fancy little tools. It turned out pretty nicely, but it wasn't worth the effort since it started showing obvious signs of rotting after a day or 2. Hence why I usually paint mine...IF I do anything festive and decorative. Ultimately, it's going to to be nearly 90 degrees all week and while we cooled off for a bit last week, we hit a high of 99 last Monday and 96 last Tuesday. So, we rarely get pumpkins until right before Halloween. It's just too much effort to paint and carve like this for something that's only going to be out a couple of nights.

No carving for me, not in years!!! I had my kids start painting them by middle school. Then my daughter bought some of the intricate tools and carved a beautiful Tinker Bell one year! Now she's a mom, my GS is 9 and they have carved in the past. I heard them talking about it this weekend!

** cleaning a toilet is easier
