Earworms are so
Some people like me suffer from them (like me & I have one right now, which is what inspired this poll) and some people don’t (like my DH). If you don’t know what an ear worm is, here’s an explanation…..



So tell us today if you are like me or my DH…….

Do you get Earworms?
If yes…..how often?
Do you try avoid these songs or do you listen and take your chances?

For Me…….I get earworms very easily - it’s annoying
My earworm is the theme song & music from the TV show 1883. My DH and I are currently watching this for the second time, and the first time this theme song did not get stuck in my head, but it’s locked in there now. I woke up in the middle of the night to it playing in my head. For songs that are on the radio, that have given me an earworm(s) in the past, I will avoid it. One of those songs is Thrift Shop by Macklemore. As soon as the song starts, I switch the radio station or tell my DH to switch the radio station. My DD21 and I love to go thrifting and sometimes I make the very stupid mistake of singing this song in the car when we’re going to a thrift store and then boom it’s stuck in my head for like two days - LOL!

Some of those annoying prescription drug songs are very bad about getting stuck in my head as well.

All the time. Right now it's Menard's. My youngest DS, as a joke of course, bought DH a little Menard's bear that sings their jingle.

I've never been annoyed by this. There have been times, a song sung in church, will pop up the next day. but not annoying. But I get a line or two, oh yeah we sang that yesterday, that's it.

OMG I didn’t know they were called that I’m a lifelong suffer I’ve learned to live with it like that thread what are you listening to right now whatever’s playing in my head currently for the last two weeks it’s a song that I heard on the radio I heard it three times that day I don’t mind the song but it’s been stuck in my head for the last two weeks and I just sing it over and over in my headit’s not a particularly favorite song of mine I don’t mind the song but I can’t get it out of my head I need to go listen to some other music so I can get a new song in my head It’s mostly songs that I hear on the radio I’ll just listen to them in my head over and over again I’ve done this ever since I was a kid I’m no kid Upon occasions it might be scene from a movie But mostly it’s songs

I am prone to earworms, but they don't bother me. On a few occasions, I didn't know where one came from and called my brother... only to find out he was listening to the song.

I get 'em occasionally but it's no big deal. I listen to a lot of music, so if a song is stuck in my head it will be displaced by the song that's actually playing.

Yep, I get 'em, and there's no way to avoid it since it's totally random which songs will take hold. I'm currently trying to shake a very beautiful but now extremely annoying new Christmas carol I learned for the first time this season. I was OK with it at first because it displaced Elton John's Nakita, which I'd had cycling on repeat in my head since hearing it in the piano lounge on the cruise I took in September. And by even telling you that I realize I'm risking it coming back, so I'm going to stop thinking about it now.

It happens but I am unbothered, it actually sounds like the song.

One of my kids went to PSU and EVERY TIME we drove up we would pass by a sign for Electric Avenue and the song would start.

Lately I seem to wake up with, Pink's I'm Never Gonna Not Dance Again in my head, there are worse things...

Yeah, it happens all the time - usually, it's a song that I don't mind, but occasionally I'll get a commercial jingle in my head which gets really annoying (Jardience is really swell...)

Dancing in the Moonlight just left me after several months and currently Listen Like Thieves by INXS is entertaining my brain.

All the time! The song "Popular" from Wicked was stuck in my head for a solid 4 weeks around the movie premier. It still keeps jumping in here and there. It doesn't bother me. Every now and then, I get one that I don't like as much, but I can usually flush it out by forcing a different earworm. What's funny is the song from IASW is considered a common earworm piece but it never gets anchored in my mind like other catchy tunes.
