Got back from camping for a month last week so catching up on laundry and house work.

No kids to get ready for school anymore. School starts tomorrow here.

Nothing is open here but restaurants and gas stations.

Doing nothing special today. We're at the beginning of a heatwave that will last all week, so I plan on staying as still as possible. It's too hot to be outside, so the yard work we were going to do is on hold.

As I posted on another thread......to some controversy.....when you are retired you kind of stay home on holidays when everyone else is out recreating. Did go out with some retired friends for lunch Friday. They've been retired for 10 years and their experience has been the same as ours. Holiday weekends you stay home to avoid the masses out and about.
Next weekend we will do an 800 mile round trip to see our Granddaughters. Should be an easy drive since even the late starting schools are back in session now, and folks have kind of wrapped up their vacations for the year.

Cooking. My daughter is home from college for the weekend. She's in an apartment this year (not by choice, she would have rather been in a dorm with a meal plan again this year). She is NOT loving cooking for herself. So I'm stocking her up with some easy things to eat for the week.

Went to a neighbors pool party. Was fun and there was a lot of food. We didn't stay long, just a quick visit. They do this every year and it's nice because it's more like an open house. They give a time range and tell people to stop in whenever they want and stay however long they want so it's really casual. It goes on into the night, but those with kids usually leave early.

It has been a glorious weekend. Saturday we took our ElCamino to a local car show and my daughter and GS were able to come as did 2 other friends. It was a great event! Last night my son got back home from a 18 day visit to Taipei, Beijing and Hanoi. Sunday and today are simply "lazy" days. I watered flowers, laundry, some grocery shopping watching my baseball team ( GO CUBS!!!) In a few hours my daughter will get home from work and my sister is coming over and my husband is grilling chicken. I made a macaroni salad and have a chopped salad bag mix to throw together. Then my son goes back "home" and graduate school year 2 starts tomorrow and my GS starts 3rd grade tomorrow too! Summer season is pretty much done but I will say it was great summer 2023 for me.

I'm working. 5pm to 5am. Last of a 4 day stretch. My weekend starts tomorrow, so there will be a cookout and a fire with plenty of adult beverages then. My family is usually pretty accommodating of my crazy schedule.

We were at the beach with family since Friday and returned late last night.
Today we went for a relaxing walk and will be having dinner at home.

Happy Labor Day!

Mostly just relaxed at home. Did work a little on school but couldn't concentrate well unfortunately.

I voted 'Stayed Home' and 'On Vacation'. We've loved having a second home on the water this summer - we hosted a cookout for our neighbors from our primary home on one day and went to another cookout with the other neighbors the next day. Got out on the lake a couple times on our jet skis as well. All in all, a great last official weekend of the summer (although we're hopeful for a great September as well).

DW and I did a Thursday-Monday trip to eastern VA to do some genealogy research in Madison Co, Prince George Co and Surry Co. We also visited the Jamestown historical site and the Yorktown national park--highly recommend!

AEROSMITH 🎵🎶 🕺 🎸🎵🎶

We had the best Labor Day weekend!!! We spent Friday and Saturday with our old friends, who are also the parents of our daughter’s serious boyfriend (the kids, both 24, have known each other since they were 7 years old and started dating 2.5 years ago). Sunday and Monday were spent at out of town family cookouts.

We spent Friday at the beach at Cape May, had cocktails and dinner at a cute little restaurant there. Then we spent the night in Atlantic City.

Saturday morning we drove to Philly to see Aerosmith on the opening day of their farewell tour. They were AMAZING!!! We spent the day pregaming at downtown bars before we moved to the Xfinity Live area to continue the party. Stayed the night in a hotel in Center City across from City Hall.

Sunday we drove to DH’s Pennsylvania hometown for a fun family cookout. Spent the night at his mom’s house. Then on Monday we stopped at our daughter’s house in the DC area on our way home for a cookout with her and her friends. Our son even stopped by! It was great!!! I’m tired today though!
