I just heard on the news that today is National Donut Day. Who knew that there’s a day just for donuts?! But then again, there’s a day for almost anything anymore - LOL! So let’s talk donuts…..

For Me……I don’t eat donuts very often, but when I do, my favorites are…..chocolate glazed, kreme filled, plain glazed, blueberry glazed, sugar and powdered. Now all this donut talk makes me want a donut - LOL!

I love donuts! Like you, I don't get them often anymore, but I have fond memories as a kid of glazed and powdered (which I'm told I called "salty donuts" because they had white stuff on them ). I went through a big blueberry phase as a young adult, and also like plain chocolate, but the ones I make exceptions for now are a couple of apple cider ones every fall, and a brownie batter one from Dunkins around Valentines Day (if I can find them).

Plain glazed or chocolate frosted are my favorite. The Shoprite by me sells delicious donuts.

I rarely have a donut but when I do it is usually a Boston Cream from Dunkin Donuts. I don’t have a good local donut shop near me and that is probably a good thing.

I do not have donuts often, but if I do I just go for the typical glazed donut.

I love the jelly filled the most. If I'm having a second one it will be maple frosted. Very rarely I'll go with Boston cream - so rarely I can't remember the last time I had one. We'll get them occasionally on vacation, usually from a non-chain donut place if we can find one. The last place we were at they had a Key Lime Pie donut I wish I'd tried. It's hard to turn down my favorites though when I get them so rarely.

It really depends on where I am and what's available. I like Boston cream, but there's a place that recently closed down that made a glazed donut that felt light as air, not heavy when I ate it. I've had a few maple bacon donuts that were actually quite good (and some that were terrible).

Can I just say that Market Basket donuts are surprisingly good, in addition to being big and cheap? They're literally almost twice as big and almost half the price as Dunkin', and IME better tasting. It's a good thing that Market Basket is not open early in the morning on my way to work... I'm in New England so I literally drive past 5 Dunkin's on my 28min morning commute - but I generally can't bring myself to pay more for the inferior donut so Market Basket is good calorie prevention.

Boston cream are my favorite.

We just had the best donuts ever in Berlin last month. We went there 4 times in a week. They weren't overly sweet like most donuts you get in the US, the fruit fillings tasted like fruit, not pure sugar. Sammy's - I highly recommend if you are ever in Berlin.

Shipley is the area favorite if I'm going to splurge and have donuts. It's definitely not an all the time food. They have a huge visual menu of options (which doesn't include their savory offerings like kolaches), but my top 3 in order...

I don’t have a favourite, I love lots of kinds, but they absolutely KILL my acid reflux. I was in a seminar yesterday and lost control of myself and ate two. I know better and knew exactly what was coming. It will be a while before I have another one.

I like donuts and we indulged more when the kids were little. I’m not sure if I’ve had a donut in years. Oldest DD worked at Dunkin during high school and early college and brought home the new seasonal flavors to try occasionally. I used to love the chocolate ones—chocolate cake, chocolate iced, chocolate crème filled then one day I tried a sour cream and that is probably now my favorite.
