We decorate! Our inside decorations are up and we will put outside up once it's October. We don't have a ton of outdoor decorations but we do have an indoor Fall tree which is my pride and joy!

Now that we finally have cooler weather, I pulled out my indoor Halloween/fall decorations. For the front porch I will probably just get mums, some pumpkins, and hang out a fall welcome sign.

We don't decorate for Halloween. Neither of us are big into Halloween and we also rarely decorate for anything (even Christmas just gets a tree and a wreath).

For Halloween, I normally just decorate outside. In our last house, I used to do a big pet cemetery display, but
when we moved (and the big cat's motor died), I shifted theme to Halloween at sea. I change it up a bit each year, but here are some pics from recent years. Sadly, I don't think I'm going to be doing much this year. Our lawn was already struggling with last year's display and the extreme heat and drought we had been experiencing this year has put a greater strain on it all. We have found that the display acts like a bit of a rain dance. None of the outlets like it when it rains. We were in a rain deficit last year as well. Within 24 hours of putting up the display, our chances of rain went from 15% to 95% and we suddenly had significant chances of rain in the forecast for days. Of course, with all of the dead grass and dirt, it means muddy dirty inflatables when things dry out. So, if we do anything this year, it will be small.

Raining blood...

I decorate for "Fall" not really Halloween. I just put up my little lawn flag the other day and the other stuff will follow. Mostly themed with pumpkins, leaves etc.

I don’t decorate my house for holidays. The last few years I’ve put a few jack o lantern decorations out at work. But they won’t go out until the week before. If Halloween was later in the week they’d go out on the Monday of Halloween.

I never decorate. Our house sits back off the road with a lot of trees in front so you don’t really see much from the road. We don’t have any neighbors and rarely people over to the house except family so why bother for just my husband and myself.

I don't care much about Halloween. I bought a new autumn wreath for my front door. I put my fall laves tablecloth on the DR table, which we rarely use. That's all the decoration I do.

Just had a blow up on the neighborhood Facebook page about Halloween decorations.

A couple people got letters from the HOA management company that they needed to take down their decorations as they were up too early.

The rules in are that decorations can go up 5 weeks before the holiday and remain up 2 weeks after. So for Halloween that means no earlier than September 26th.

One had life sized characters up on their porch dressed like Jason and Michael Myers wielding chainsaws that were put up September 16th. The other had started installing their graveyard. Apparently their mother in law spends the downtime between halloweens designing and making several new tombstones every year so every year it gets bigger and needs more setup time. Last year she made a ship that looked like it was coming up out of the ground complete with five ghostly pirates.

The post on the Facebook page was a juicy one with some taking the HOA side and some going straight to the 10 year old argument that they must be communists. To be fair both sides were acting like 10 year olds in the argument styles. I expect no better from Facebook.

We had not had a good juicy neighborhood Facebook blowup in months.
While I don't decorate myself, I enjoy looking at others' elaborate creations. I kind of agree with the HOA on this one, if they didn't specify a timeline some decorations would be out way too long, maybe 6 weeks before would work?

Only decorate outside. Amount of decorations is decreasing every year. Mainly my front door, steps, porch area. I have two very large ceramic pumpkins with a witch hat that I put a bright light in. Don't know how much longer husband can keep dragging them out of the attic.

I used to decorate for Halloween when the kids were here, but don’t anymore. It was always just inside.

I decorate. I bought my pumpkin last week too. I don't go all out as much as I like, part of me is weary of stuff getting stolen. Especially life-size skeletons. I'm currently making some stuff too, and I'm iffy about leaving that out too long.

I don't do much for indoor decorations, but I do hang some Halloween masks. I own many retro-style plastic masks from Spirit Halloween that look great on a wall. Walmart had a retro Dracula years ago too.

Vintage Beistle paper decorations are amazing too. Those take me right back! These were a mainstay in grade school every Fall.

This year Sprit had masks of the Haunted Mansion hitchhikers, and a beautiful Boris Karloff Frankenstein plastic mask from Trick or Treat Studios. I love Halloween!

I always wait until October to put up Fall/Halloween decor. What week is a crap shoot, depends on if we have a late summer.

And this year it will likely be mid October as my summer flowers are still going strong. Might as well enjoy them for a few more weeks. I guess once we get out of the 80 degree days I will start, but I am still enjoying my last days of summer. :flower:

(and if it were up to dd, I would have it all out today!) 🍁🎃

We have a skeleton we put up, and my wife will carve a pumpkin. However, we take our holidays one at a time. So nothing goes up until after Columbus Day Federal Holiday.
Our neighbors on one side put their Halloween decorations BEFORE Labor Day. Several large inflatables (Frankenstein, Halloween Mickey Mouse, etc) and the mailbox is covered in "spider webs". But they have a 4 year old and I know the day after Halloween their Christmas decorations will go up. Neighbors on the other side did put pumpkins out last week, but they also have a younger child, a 5 year old.

It seems like everyone in my area is decorating for Halloween very early this year. Inflatables have been up, skeletons are out and tombstones are sprouting up everywhere since the middle of last week.

I will wait to decorate until at least the first week of October. One year I decorated early in September and was so sick of the decorations I took them all down after the kids went to sleep on Halloween night.

Timely post!!

Since tomorrow is the 1st day of fall, I’m getting all our fall decor out today!

We have generic fall decor that stays out through Thanksgiving.

As I’m putting out all the fall decor today, I’ll also put out our Halloween specific decor which will stay up through Halloween.

The day after Halloween, I’ll switch out the Halloween-specific stuff for the Thanksgiving-specific stuff.

And, we decorate both inside & outside, but there’s really not a lot I do outside - just pumpkins & decorative gourds w/ some scarecrows on the front porch. Oh, I also have some skeleton flamingos that go in the yard through Halloween.
