Taking a flight is something quite a few of us do for business and/or pleasure, but how we get to the airport is something we all do differently. There’s many different options for people today which is helpful. Not everyone has an airport close to them like I do (actually I have 2 - Midway & OHare (we mainly fly out of Midway)), so getting to the airport does take some planning for many. So let’s ride into your answer today in regards to getting to the airport…….

When you go to the airport, how do you get there?
(multiple choice)

Have a great weekend and week ahead.
I’ll tell Mickey & Friends you all say “hello” ::MickeyMo::MinnieMopluto::eeyore:pooh::stitch2::tink:

For Me…….Currently, since 2021, we drive ourselves and park in a privately owned parking lot right outside the airport. This has been so convenient. The parking lot is very large and the parking lot has a small bus that picks you up from your spot and takes you to the front of the lot, and then it’s a very short walk to get into the airport. Tomorrow will be our 4th time doing this. Before that we used a private car service, and before that we got a stretch limo for the girls (when they were little they would get so excited and special to go to the airport in a limousine). We have never had a friend or family member drop us off - I never felt comfortable asking. I only voted for my private car, since we don’t do the other ways anymore.

*For my local DIS friends…..we use Midway Park Savers. Definitely try this sometime - it’s easy and not super expensive.

I’ve used friends that’s is what we do around my neck of the woods and if one isn’t available Uber - I don’t know anyone who parks at the airport - we live fairly close so it’s not a big deal to drop someone off or pick them up
When I come home at Midnight I Uber as I don’t want to ask a friend on a work night to pick me up at Midnight or later from the airport- before Uber we took cabs - no family lived by me to ask and the family that did was traveling with me !

We live in the Chicago suburbs and Midway airport is very close to our house. We park at the Economy garage. The bus to/from the airport comes every few minutes. It costs more than the private parking service, but it is easy to do. :)

Sometimes we have to fly out of O'Hare airport. On those rare occasions we have a family member drive us. It is only about 25 minutes away, so not too bad.

We'll be at WDW starting on Sunday. The weather looks like it will be pretty good. Have a great time. :)

We live in a rural area where public transportation is nonexistant and I think there is now one guy who does Uber here. Not kidding. Just one guy. Anyway, our local teeny tiny airport is 15 minutes from our house and has free parking. We prefer that airport generally. The next is 1 1/2 away but you have to pay for parking there. The other airport we frequent is DTW but it takes us almost 5 hours to get there. They of course charge for parking there.

Have a great vacation, slo. We leave the 19th, go to OKW for 3 nights then on a cruise.

Daughter or son usually drive or pick us up.....depending on the day of the week.
If we leave on a weekday, they are all at work, so we use Super Shuttle.
This trip we leave on a Wed, so Super shuttle it is.

We have 3 local airports - BWI, Regan National and Dulles. Mostly use BWI, occasionally Dulles, never Regan.

We drive our own car and park in the airport lots - Daily or Long Term depending on how long the trip is.

@slo Have fun getting to the airport and “see” you when you get back 👋🏾
Enjoy!

Timely thread. Made an unexpected plane reservation last night and now need to do the same for the ride to JFK on Sunday.
Fortunately, Uber offers wheelchair accessible rides in NYC now so the hardest thing will be to pay for it, lol.

Used to take public transport to the airport($5.00 p/p) and Uber back (avg $35.00) but you gotta go with the flow.

My friend's dad lives 5min from Bradley airport, so he chauffeurs us & we get free lodging before and/or after. Plus he dog sits while we are gone - which he loves doing, since he lives alone. Totally worth the extra ~2hr drive vs flying out of Providence.

I selected 4 modes of transportation.

For driving to the airport from my home, I use my own vehicle. During my career, my company would reimburse me for the mileage at the government rate. Once at my destination, I would usually take a taxi to my hotel which most times was part/attached to the convention center and take the taxi back to the airport. The same applied if the convention center had train/rail to and from the airport.

I did use an airport shuttle once for a vacation in Las Vegas. Yes, it was cheaper but made for a long trip to our resort given the drop-offs of other passengers and the pick-ups on the return. The only exception was at MCO where we stayed overnight at the Marriott across from the airport; the shuttle from the hotel to/from the airport was ultra convenient and the overnight parking was cheaper than the airport itself.

We are about 40 minutes or so from BWI with no traffic. We always drive our own car and park down there. Then they shuttle you to your airline. I usually am always on an early flight leaving town and a late flight coming home. I’ve never asked anyone to drive us. I like being in control of our transportation.

Enjoy your trip!!!!!

We have two local airports we use and we always take on own car and park at the airport. Sometimes we even splash out and stay in an airport hotel the night before😄

It depends. Sometimes, we park offsite and they shuttle bus to the airport. Occasionally, we'll get a ride, like Sunday, when our older son is dropping us off. And very rarely (usually just for long trips when all four of us are going) we will take an Uber.

It depends for me as well. If we're both going and it's fairly short (3 days or so), we'll drive and park. If we're both going and it's longer, we take a rideshare. It's mostly me traveling to Chicago for work lately -- DH drives and drops me off/picks me up for those.

We live/work in a area that is a little over a hour from both PHL & BWI, and I fly out of both. Once in a while we fly out of Dulles for international flights. Drive myself/ourself to airport (unless I'm taking a large number of employees somewhere, like a conference then I'll make arrangements for private transport from our office) and either use The Parking Spot at PHL or BWI, or short term parking. Often we will use Uber/Taxi or rent a car when we get to our destination depending on needs & what is more convenient.

Early/late flights we have utilized the in-airport hotels at PHL & MCO

We have always driven ourselves. I usually book a parking reservation (with coupon) at The Parking Spot just to make sure I have a space (vital during peak times) and let their shuttles take us the final leg to and from the terminal. It's always been cheaper and more reliable than the other options. My parents, on the other hand, really like to use a car service and every now and then get treated to a limo if that's what's available at the time.
