Lots and lots of candy canes are sold this time of year.

Do you buy any candy canes?
What do you do with them?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..I buy no candy canes. I used to hang them on my tree, but then I’d throw them away because nobody likes eating them. I like eating one or two candy canes, but not 24 of them - LOL!

I found this ⬇️ interesting, so I thought I’d share.

I don’t care for the traditional red & white striped peppermint flavored candy canes. We like the fruity flavors of Jolly Rancher or Starburst candy canes so those are the ones I buy.

I haven't purchased candy canes in a long time. I used to buy them every year when the kids were young. But not anymore. They are cute, though. :)

We used to buy them but now the kids are grown and moved out and I’m diabetic so we don’t anymore. I do like the way they look on a tree and I love peppermint. My substitute is sugar free peppermint mocha ☕️ coffee creamer!

I don't buy them and think they taste gross, but DGD was totally thrilled when Santa came to her school and gave her a candy cane. Real treasure.
So I have a new appreciation of their value.

I bought a box of 12 this year. Not sure why, we still had some leftover in the pantry from last year! When the kids were, well kids - we'd put them on the Christmas Tree and one in their stocking.

My husband likes a bit of stale candy cane once in a while hence the reason we have them leftover from last year :P

As much as I like mint, I rarely buy candy canes. Finding actual mint candy canes is also often a challenge. If you buy early in the season it's not too bad, but by some time in December, you're usually left with the fruity ones that look like they should be mint but aren't. Last year, I wanted to make peppermint bark last minute and had to go all over creation just to find some kind of peppermint candies. I used to buy some to decorate cards and would display the leftovers, but I had no good way of storing them and they'd gum up everything in my bins over the summer.

I bought a small pack for the kids to decorate the tree with. I don’t eat them anymore, but will take a peppermint Hershey kiss or two from their stockings :)
