In my circle of friends and family, mailing Christmas cards is getting less and less. I kept telling my DH, that I wasn’t going to be a part of this and I’m still mailing Christmas cards. Well….this year I’ve lessened them by a lot. With the price of stamps and cards, I finally caved and cut my Christmas card list by 50%. The only people I sent a card to are those that sent one to us last year. Everyone else, I’m friends with on social media and I’ll tell everyone Merry Christmas on there, just like they do - times have really changed. What’s your thoughts about this……

Do you mail holiday cards?
If yes….who do you send them to?
(multiple choice)

For Me……As I mentioned above, I only sent to those that sent to us last year. Even that list I didn’t do 100% - it was my neighbors and family that I’m not friend with on social media, because they aren’t on social media. So far, we’ve only gotten 3 cards this year and I’m not expecting over 10.

I used to send around 50 in the mail - I think it was 7 this year ! I give out to my coworkers even though only one coworker gives out cards I have 6 coworkers - everyone else I wish Merry Christmas via text - very sad as I enjoy cards and the letters that would come with them
Also some of my friends ( we are all getting older ) we used to send letters back and forth through out the year and that doesn’t happen any more either - i don’t do FB so I don’t always know what my friends are up to as I’m not part of that social media

We haven't sent cards in many years. We've received one card this year, from our bank. :sunny:

We have always sent Christmas cards to relatives and close friends. A few of them mentioned they no longer send cards, but I have no idea why. Always seemed like part of the holiday (like putting up a Christmas tree) and doesn't take that much time/effort/planning to do. We have cut back on our list and if there is someone we haven't seen/talked to/heard from in 5+ yrs who doesn't send a card, we also drop them from our list.

I will mail a few and hand out a couple.
I used to send many.......but it has gone way done.
I will probably mail about 4 or 5 and will hand out 2 (yard and pool people).

We have received 3 so far....all from companies or charities

My mother would crawl out of her grave and beat me good ( a true West Indianism if ever there was. Someone always getting beat, someone always crawling out of a grave. Even if they were cremated…) if I didn’t send holiday greetings to family and friends 😂.
Unfortunately, the tradition will probably die with me. My children are veddy much Yankeefied.

I am planning to write out cards today. I send to family and friends. I send about 25 cards.

Edit: I just wrote them out. 31 cards this year.

I said first time not sending cards but it is only because Canada has a postal strike going on for almost a month now.

We will send out cards here shortly.... just kind of sending to ones we get one from. The list is quite short.

I rarely sent any out. But this topic did invoke some great memories.

My parents (mostly my father) would get upwards of 50-100 Christmas cards a year. It was tradition for us to tape each card to our banister going up to the 2nd floor. Most cards were from his MLB colleagues, and each had a unique and impressionable cover/inside. I also grew up in a house that had a doorbell which played "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".

We don’t do cards, never have. Even my parents, who used to be religious about sending them out, no longer send them and we receive less and less every year. Actually only received maybe 4 so far this year which is crazy because we used to receive a ton.

I've got two boxes of cards sitting on my desk now, along w/ my address list. I'm hoping to get them out today. As for receiving them, we haven't gotten a single card yet this year.

My cards are written, addressed and stamped. I need to drop them off at the post office (hopefully today). I still send to friends and family, including some people who don't send to us (about 50 this year). I definitely send to anyone who sends us one, but we don't get very many so...

I think my wife said she was doing 80 cards this year (at least buying that many). She does the mailing, but we send to friends, family and some co-workers. We will drop people off the list we haven't heard from in a while and my wife always buys a little extra because we usually get a couple cards from people we didn't originally get cards from, so we try to drop one in the mail to them.

We don't do cards anymore. I can't even remember the last time I sent or received one.

I said first time not sending cards but it is only because Canada has a postal strike going on for almost a month now.
Same here. Was able to give a few people cards. Will be able to give a few neighbours. Was thinking I might do some online cards or messages for those who don't live close.. Our list goes down a bit each year. Had a few dear friends pass away, others are by themselves over the holiday so will definitely send e-cards & call them. One lives close enough that we take down "Christmas Dinner" to her. We've tried getting her out to our house but it hasn't worked in years.

Will send cards next year but I have a feeling that there won't be many people sending out. If we don't receive cards, we send out one more year and then that's it.

Had one cousin who said if she sees people, she doesn't send cards. I haven't seen them in years. Oh well.
