I like wine and prefer sweet wines. Moscato is my favorite. I have wine at home maybe every other month or so and definitely at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I, too, have been following WW this year and wine is a lot of my daily points, so I have to limit what I drink.

I have a glass with my aunt on Thanksgiving. All wine tastes the same to me; I have no idea what people are talking about when they compare wines for bouquet or whatever. I've had the expensive stuff and I've had the stuff that comes out of a box. I see no difference.

I rarely drink anyway, and when I do have one or two it's more likely to be a beer. I don't really like the taste of distilled alcohol. If I do drink one anyway it has to be something of the fruity, cocktail umbrella type.
LOL. The most important thing to know about wine is, drink what you like.
Bouquet refers to the smell. And you are spot on, the price of wine makes no difference.
You sound like a candidate for a wine tasting at a nice small family run winery.

I have a few glasses of Cabernet during the year. Generally at a restaurant.

We love wine and have a wine fridge that we received as a wedding present. My wife's favourite wine is Ice Wine and mine is Chianti.

Not every month but more than a few times of a year. I just depends. Sometimes at home or at other peoples homes and occasionally in Restaurants but I tend to gravitate to fancy cocktails there now.

We drink several bottles of wine per year. We have joined a couple local wineries and enjoy experiencing new wines and wine pairings with various foods. I think the old adage of red wine-red meat and white wine-chicken/seafood has sort of faded at this point and people are encouraged to drink what they enjoy. Prior to an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle, a group of us visited several wineries and had a blast. I had no idea there were 100s of wineries in Washington. I would love to visit Napa Valley and do the various wine trails out there. So many places, so little time (and money, lol).

Wine is like my hobby. I have some a couple times a week. I mostly enjoy it at home. It is very rare for me to get wine at a restaurant. It's just way overpriced in my opinion.

As far as my wine of choice, it is almost environment dependent. If it is sunny and/or hot you just can't beat Chardonnay.

If it is cooler, I feel as if a red such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot is better.

Not a big drinker but I enjoy a glass now and then. I also like mixed drinks and beer though so depends on who I’m with and the occasion.

I do not like wine at all. Don't like how it smells. Don't like how any of it tastes.

I do like wine, both red and white, but red gives me migraine and often the white wines trigger allergies -- stuffy nose. So I try to avoid it. DH has wine with all special meals.

So while not wine @slo … we did toast you … the far glass was yours! :) it was good lol

Love It!
Thanks for thinking of me and it looks delish! ❤️:goodvibes

We’ve been there during Food & Wine several times, but never partaken in it - we were with young kids or the budget didn’t allow it. But now, I want to return for it so my DH and I can partake in it and enjoy Epcot in a more relaxed way.

There really is no "right" wine to drink with a meal. If you like cabernet and enjoy it with a seafood dish -that's perfectly fine. That being said -there are certain wines that generally pair better with specific types of food. So, a crisp, slightly acidic white(I'd go with Gruner Veltliner) is great with seafood. For instance, if you were eating dessert a sweeter wine pairs well with it because your sense of taste has already focused on the dessert -making the sweetness of the wine less intense(balance). That same wine with a steak would taste sicky sweet to most people(unbalanced), so you pair it with a red that has components of dark fruit, "leather", etc.

I drink a fair amount of wine -although not as much as I used to and passed my Level 1 certification so have a fairly strong understanding of the concepts and science behind it. I tend to prefer Reds(Cabernet, Pinot), but love whites as well(Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, a Dry Reisling).

Understanding it can all be very confusing and with holidays coming up -I'd suggest people go to a local wine shop and have them help choose a couple bottles. Life is too short to drink bad wine!
Love all this! Was it a hobby for you, or a potential career you were exploring? I once had a sommelier tell me "I drink for a living" - that still makes me chuckle. :goodvibes Having attended many wine tasting/food paring events, it's amazing how eating/drinking certain foods brings out the characteristics of wine and how distinctly you can recognize it, with a little instruction/definition of what you're experiencing. Fun! If I had a "wine buddy" I'd spend a lot more time doing this; hopefully it's somewhere in my future. :wave2:
