i have so many favorite cookbooks b/c they are specific to types of food but in general my top of the list would be-

the american home all purpose cookbook published in 1966. when i first moved out on my own i was craving meatloaf and since my mom never wrote a recipie down in her life (and could'nt translate her pinches and dashes of ingredients into measurements) i had to seek a cookbook. i went for the oldest, most dog earred, splattered book in the used bookstore figuring if it was well used then it was reliable. GREAT old school recipies for lots of comfort foods.

i have some handwritten recipies in a little spiral cookbook notebook-mostly ones i've asked for at work/friend potlucks (i also have a page that lists what cookbooks/pages certain recipies i use are in).

online? my oldest turned me on to yummly which has some good stuff, i esp. like that you can plug in the ingredients you have on hand and it will do a match to recipies.

I voted “Index cards put into a book” and “Online - One or more of the Top 8”.

My husband’s mother made a small cookbook for each of her kids. She wrote out a bunch of family recipes on index cards and put them into small photo albums.

We took her homemade meatsauce recipe and tweaked it a little over the years to suit our own tastes. :stir:

When we want to make something that neither of us have ever made before we search online for a recipe that looks good. lol.:surfweb:

Most of the time we’ve hit upon a great recipe, a couple of times we decided to use a different recipe for next time. :crazy2:

I voted other because I use them all, cookbooks, index cards, printed recipes and online. Some of my favorite cookbooks are also memories of travel where we pick one up at an interesting place or country.

What do you use for your recipes?
Cookbook (homemade, paper/hard cover or ebook) or Online Website or Both?
I have hardcover cookbooks.
I also "look it up" online - various sites
I sometimes play it by ear.
Favorite cookbook is the one my mother put together with all the recipes she used when I was growing up. Some recipes from other family members, some she concocted.
