slo’s FRIDAY 10/18 poll - Tostadas

I don’t think Tostadas get a lot of love, but I know I love them. For those that don’t know, a tostada is basically a flat taco, with the main differences being a tostada is always on a flat corn shell, never flour and there’s refried beans on the bottom like pizza sauce on a pizza. I’m going out for tostadas and margaritas tonight, so I’m pretty excited and this is what inspired today’s poll. So what’s your thoughts on this…..

For Me……As I mentioned above - I love them sooooo……much! I always get beef and the restaurant we go to will also put cheese on them and then bake them for few seconds to get the cheese melted. SO! GOOD! Pair that with a margarita and I am a happy Sandy

I love the tostados from San Angel Inn in Epcot. Other than that, I don't have them very often.

I’m with Slo — tostadas and a Margarita and I’m a happy girl. I like that you can pile more lettuce and tomato and guacamole on them than on a taco. So it’s a salad, right?

Never tried them until 2 years ago at a baby shower. The mom is Dominican & one of her aunts who does catering set up a tostada bar & it was great. Somehow I missed the part about the refried beans on the bottom. Bet that would have held the ground meat on better, lol.
Baby Blanca will be 2 in December.

I love them, but don't eat them often anymore. Usually just a taco salad for me.

I don’t think I’ve ever had them specifically, but if it’s just a different version of a taco, I doubt I’d love it since I dislike Mexican food in general. Having a margarita or two first would definitely help though. Happy Birthday SLO - enjoy your dinner!

I love them! I could eat Mexican and Texmex several times a week. My DH knows if he lets me pick where we go we are getting that or seafood. I voted chicken, veggie, and other because I like seafood ones too.

Yes, Marie makes tostadas maybe once a month, ground beef. Always good. You have to start with a sturdy tortilla. I eat mine like a Chicago beef sandwich, leaning forward, away from my shirt and pants. Marie has found a pretty sturday one she has used now for a few years, makes a big difference.

I love Mexican food, but tostadas are probably the item I eat the least.

I like them but I marked "just OK" because there are a lot of other forms of mexican food I'd choose over them. I don't love refried beans, and I find them difficult to eat... they're like a taco, but more work (so just give me the taco instead, please.) But if someone served me tostadas I certainly wouldn't complain.
