Tomorrow is Sweetest Day which can be a fun day for many. Some celebrate this day and others do not. My fondest memory of Sweetest Day is my stepdad, who was a wonderful man, always bought me a dozen roses when my birthday fell on Sweetest Day. I never googled information about this day, so I did this morning and found this…..

For those that live in other countries…..is this day celebrated (I use the term celebrated loosely) in your country?

Now that we’ve read the above, I’m going to sweetly ask you?

Do you currently celebrate Sweetest Day?
If no….have you in the past?
If yes to either, with who did you celebrate it with?
(multiple choice)

For Me……Back a long time ago my DH and I celebrated Sweetest Day (like when we were dating and newly married), but not now. I normally forget about it until we want to do something on this day and the place we go to is crowded because of Sweetest Day. That happened this year - my DH got free hotel stays at a casino in Michigan and when he went to book tomorrow night (he tried a month ago) there was no vacancy, and then we remembered - it’s Sweetest Day.

Never really have - except for in high school and college. Our anniversary is always a few days after Sweetest Day, so we celebrate that instead.

The topic has come up in the past as well - and it’s a really regional thing, very localized to a small part of the Midwest.

I've heard of it because I live in the Midwest. ;) I've never celebrated it because it feels like a made-up holiday. Plus, it is too close to Halloween. There is plenty of candy in the house right now. We don't need any more of it. :)

Another never heard of it. I did live in Ohio for 4 years back in the late 60s early 70s but evidently it wasn't a thing where we lived.

Also, never heard of it. How is that not on the poll? It would be winning by a mile! 😁

I've never heard of it -Valentine's Day is good enough for me. Besides, my third Saturday in October has been booked up for a while with the Alabama-Tennessee game. Roll Tide Roll!

Another one for the never heard of it group, although I am in the UK. Not aware we celebrate anything similar!

Bingo! I've heard of it. During our dating years and 'early' days of our marriage (early being like first 30-40 years), I always got a Sweetest Day card, and sent, or picked up very pretty flower bouquets. Marie was never really 'into' the day, but went along with me observing the dsy, ha. Going out to dinner that day was never really too special as we did go out often to very nice restaurants.

Years back it seemed more popular and heard more about it on TV, radio before the day, like all the other myriad of holidays throughout the year. But in recent years not much. For the past 10-15 years, seems like I don't observe anymore and the day silently just goes by without a thought of it.

Never in a million years did I think that so many people never heard of this day.
I learned something today.
