Medium rare, which I didn't know was possible growing up. My Dad cooked all of our meat to within an inch of burned. Any red at all, he considered it not done. Which is something, because he was a meat cutter and dealt with raw meat all day. It must be the way his mother cooked it when he was growing up.

I don't eat it anymore, but when I did it was always medium-rare. I don't remember if I ever sent one back, a little under or over and I'd still eat it.

Medium. I will send it back if undercooked to rare. That's a out it. I have a few times. Marie likes well, zero pink. She sends back maybe a third of the time to tweak it a bit more.

We had some great NY strip steaks on Saturday. Very good.

Rare as rare can be I literally tell them to flick a lighter underneath it for a couple of seconds and then slap it on the plate

same here- 'just walk the cow past the grill'. I don't recall ever having an issue with getting one done to my taste on the chef's first try. I've not had similar luck with lamb.

I order mine medium, but if it's going to be 'off' I'd rather it veer toward more done than less. I've only ever returned a steak once at a restaurant and it was because it was too rare for me to eat (like rare-to-medium-rare. I think I must have accidentally been served someone else's.)

I don't like steak well enough to pay restaurant prices for it, so I don't normally order it in a restaurant. (Too expensive for the amount of enjoyment.) When I have steak, it's usually a family member who's grilled it, so I try really hard not to be too critical. If it's overdone I'll grin and bear it. If it's way underdone I might ask if we could throw it back on for another couple of minutes. And my DH does a good job of looking out for me. He'll eat his rarer than I will, so he's been known to trade plates with me if his is more done than mine.

In a restaurant I order a steak medium. As long as it isn't still mooing and isn't charcoal, I could eat steak every night cooked differently and it is a different meal to me. At home I used to grill a steak to medium well. My wife took over grilling a few years ago and our son has convinced her the only way to eat a steak is medium rare. So that is how I most often eat a steak.
Never sent a meal back in a restaurant. My wife sent back an order of Fettuccini Alfredo once from Olive Garden. Was her favorite entree there but the chef that night decided to put Cayenne Pepper in. They were reluctantly took it back, but their attitude was pretty heavy. She wrote corporate who responded with a copy of the recipe, noting there was no such spice in it. They apparently missed the point that on that night....there WAS.

DH prefers medium rare and has sent it back when it was really over cooked. I have not had red meat since I was 15 so I have no preference.

I like my steaks/prime rib medium. However depending on the restaurant I may order it medium well due to past experiences.
If it comes out slightly under/ over cooked I will eat. When ordering a burger it is no red or medium well ( depends on the restaurant cooking scale). While I have never had to return a steak , I have returned a burger for being undercooked.

Medium rare for my steaks. If it's a little under or a little over I'm OK, but if it's too done (or too raw) I'll send it back. Burgers? Medium to medium rare. If it isn't pink to a reasonable degree, I ask for a new burger. If a place says they don't cook it "rarer" than medium well, I don't order the burger. I am an adult, I know the risks associated with undercooked ground beef, and I will make my own decisions/take my chances.

I will eat medium rare and medium, at restaurants I order it medium. If it shows up medium rare I am fine with it, but if it ever came medium well I MIGHT send it back. Well done and it would definitely go back. Fortunately I've never had to send back a steak.

Hamburgers on the other hand, there had better not be any pink.

I like my steaks rare. I give them grace, if it's cooked medium rare. Anymore than that, I won't eat it, so I send it back. I also like my burgers as rare as they'll make them.

Medium. I never sent a steak back at a restaurant. Maybe once or twice it arrived medium well but it was still edible.

My father insisted on EVERYTHING being cooked well done. Shoe leather meat, mushy vegetables, etc. I guess that’s how his mother cooked so he thought it was normal.

Medium rare as well. Either side of that is usually ok. If it's raw (blue) or past medium, I might send it back, depending on where I'm at.
