Happy Independence Day to all my American DIS friends

Many people today will be going to cookouts to celebrate the holiday. Regardless when you go to a cookout, you may be asked the question…..hot dog or brat? Many people are pretty passionate about their choice and won’t deviate. If you want to know the difference, here ya go……


So know that you read that, let’s imagine that you are all invited to my house for a cookout and I ask you….

What would you like today? Hot dog or Brat?
If neither, I will have side dishes and salads to enjoy

For Me……I’m not a fan of brats, so I will request a hot dog all the time, and if it can be a little charred, then I’ll be a very happy Sandy . Truth be told….we aren’t having either today - we’re having a chicken dinner that my DH makes on The Blackstone. Since he’s off work, he has a lot of time to make it. I’m really looking forward to it. Enjoy your holiday everyone

We usually have hamburgers. If the choice is only between hot dogs and brats then it is hot dogs as I don’t eat pork products.

I chose other because we're all over the place with processed sausage in my household.

Sometimes brats, sometimes dogs (Hebrew National always), sometimes kielbasa (I'm Slovak), sometimes half smokes (I'm from DC/Maryland, it's a local thing).

We're going to cookout today at our local pool. I'm making some pasta salad, caprese salad, watermelon. Haven't decided on the sausage yet, we have all the varieties in the freezer. Half smokes or hot dogs is the most likely.

I picked other since we are not going to or having a cookout. At the beach, will sit & swim for most the day, and I have a roast in the crockpot.

Pure beef hot dogs on the Traeger is my choice! Although, I also grill beer brats for our parties as well!

Not a big hot dog fan; I rarely eat them. Would choose a hamburger all the time.

I’ve never eaten bratwurst/brats, but we sometimes grill Italian sausage and I prefer that over a hot dog as well.

Since they quit making my favorite brand of hotdog and I have not found a replacement yet and I absolutely love brats I will pick those almost every time all the time with one exception if you got bbq hamburgers I’m picking those unless you have steak and then of course I’m picking that unless it’s pork steaks and then I’m eating the sides and nothing else
But like you if I’m having a hotdog I want that thing burnt because it’s so much better that way !!!

I haven’t had a hot dog, brat, sausage, etc. since I was 5. I don’t remember having one or what they taste like. My mom said it was the first meat group I stopped eating.

It depends on how I'm feeling that day, but I prefer hot dogs if I have to pick. We are having neither. I put a pork butt in the slow cooker yesterday. Today I'll shred it and we'll have pulled pork sandwiches, hash brown potato casserole, cole slaw, and strawberry pie (also maybe a key lime pie or a poke cake) at DD's house.

I just don't go for hotdogs or brats... I hold out for burgers. If that's not an option, I am sticking to sides.

Can't say I'm a big fan of either so I've said it'd depend on my mood. I'm likely to go bratwurst over a hotdog or just avoid both! Not my favourite thing to eat.
