Slinky Dog Rope Drop

Hi all! I just wanted to report that we were at Hollywood Studios this past Friday for rope drop and were able to ride Slinky with no Fast Passes. It was a 9am opening and I'd say we arrived at the gate around 8:05. They brought us into the park around 8:30 and then into Toy Story Land around 8:50 (I think). We were off Slinky Dog by 9:10 - it was great

You're welcome! It was the first thing I tried to FP when our window opened because we only had a half day at HS and I wasn't able to get one, so I was worried too! Turns out I didn't need to be Good luck!

Is there any special tip or trick to staying close to the front of the crowd?
Is it best to stay to the right?

this past week, we got to the park at 8:45am for 9am opening and wait + ride was 30min. we stayed to the right and even walked on the pathway close to brown derby. the main walkway more to the left was congested and feel like we passed some that took that route.

@NSmuppetmom I agree with @bwang123 - we stuck as close to the right as possible and it worked out for us. It was...intense. There were a LOT of people going to the same place and we were a bit worried it would be out of control, but it wasn't. Everyone was calm and it worked out well

We went Thursday, arrived at gate at 8:15, started letting people in about 8:25. We went left, closer to Indiana Jones, as there were fewer people over there and we were about 3rd row from the front as opposed to being about 10th row from front if we stayed in the center. In retrospect, I think staying in the center or right would be better as they do not let you go down the steps near the Chinese theater, they funnel everyone under the archway near star wars launch bay, then left to TS land. Even so, we were off Slinky by 9:20, did alien ss then used our fastpasses for TSMM. Finished all three by 10:05 and sat down for breakfast at Andy's lunchbox. A great morning for sure.

How is Slinky Dog compared to Seven Dwarfs Mine or Big Thunder Mountain?

I would say Slinky is similar to 7DMT as far as intensity. It didn't seem as fast but you are more aware of how high up you are on Slinky. The whole area is just really, really imaginative and well themed.

Thanks! As long as it is less shaky than 7DMT I will give it a try. We're going in December and currently all the FP for this ride are gone. We will try the rope drop!

This sounds awesome! I hope our toy story land morning is similar to this!

I am in the same boat this trip! Going with my best friend and I really wanted her to experience Slinky - such a fun ride. Thanks for the info!
