We are going to Hollywood Studios next Sunday with our 3 children. Slinky Dog is a major goal for the day so we are planning to use Genie Plus at 7am to try to book the earliest lightening lane possible. Any experiences with how early those start? Thank you so much!!!

Slinky Dog is the one that the majority of people are going for so yes, those times do go quickly but it all depends on how many park guests are all trying at the same time in the morning what time you end up eventually getting. One day last week we were on bang on 7:00am and the earliest time we could get was 2:00pm-3:00pm and then another day later that week we were on at 7:00am again and the earliest time was 7:00pm-8:00pm so we just took it and we were able to modify it to an earlier mid-afternoon time later in the day once we were in the park.

My advice to you if it’s important to you is to just take whatever time you can get at 7:00am no matter how late in the day it is so you at least have one and then just keep trying to modify it to an earlier time through the app until you find a time that works for you because people are constantly changing plans once they’re in the park for whatever reason. The good thing is now you don’t have to cancel to see what else is available you’re not going to lose your original time until you confirm your new one after modifying through the app. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the responses. I must admit I was hoping to hear that I could get around the 10am - noon time frame to go with our 11am Roundup lunch adr, but that sounds unlikely so yes we might plan to rope drop and hope for the best!! Thank you!

You certainly may, it's just a crapshoot. We got a 9-something return time one day, it really just depends on timing and luck. :)

I definitely second this advice. The "Genie slots" strategy where you try to move up your LL time slot worked super great for us on the last trip. IIRC, right at 7am the earliest slot we could get was around 12:30pm, but then after just a few minutes of trying to update our time we moved it up to around 10am.

You didn’t mention how old your children are - those ages would be a determining factor on rope dropping for me - the older the child, the easier to rope drop a ride.

Keep in mind, the RRBBQ is about a 1 1/2 - 2 hour meal. With an 11:00am ADR, I would not choose any LLs until 2:30pm or after. I say 2:30pm, because if you don’t get seated until 11:30am, it could be 2 hours from that time. We just ate there last month and our meal was almost 2 hours, and this is normal for this restaurant. I hope that you get seated on time with your ADR being early.

Good luck - I hope you‘re able to get on that ride - definitely one of our favorites.

Wow! I didn’t know that restaurant would take so long but I guess the longer in a/c the better. We have 4 year old twins and a 10 year old. We have rope dropped in the past pretty successfully but another huge goal for us is to meet woody and Buzz so I was planning on rope dropping that because my little guy just loves Toy Story so much but they don’t start meeting until 10am so I was hoping to get that accomplished before our adr so we can cool off after waiting in their lines etc but I guess we’ll just have to wait until we get there to see how long everything takes! Thank you for the information!

When you modified this did it restart your 2-hour clock on when you can book your next LL or did it leave as is?

No it did not restart the 2-hour clock. I think that it used to work that way, but they recently changed it so that it doesn’t. Now there’s no risk in modifying your reservations.

This was not my experience. I am pretty sure we were done with our meal at the BBQ after about 45-60 minutes. If anything, it's faster than most sit-down meals, since all the food comes out at once. But of course you could wait and linger as much as you want.

we have done this 2x last year with my college kid on a iphone 13 doing it. At 7am and five seconds, we got the lanes for 3:30 and the 2nd day at 4:10. I am not sure how so many people get lighting lanes in the morning.

Wow….that was good
I did a thread on the restaurants board and over and over people said their meal was 1 1/2 - 2 hours long and so was mine. It may depend on the time of day - my ADR was 6:45pm. We also didn’t get seated until 7:10pm.
