Our ds is taking his dslr when we go to Disney.

He does not want to take it on the water rides, I have taken my camera on and it has been fine but it is brand new to him and naturally he wants to be super careful.

He has the Slingshot 200 AW for his gear..will this bag fit in the Disney and IOA lockers?? It is not really a bag you can squish in-it is pretty "firm" in it's shape hey.

I know IOA has lockers close to the coasters..but I guess our only choice at Disney if he wants to ride Splash or Kali is to go back to the front gates as they don't have lockers elsewhere right?

AFAIK the only lockers at WDW are at the front of the parks.

I understand the concern for the new equipment but another thought is that the slingshots all have a waterproof cover that is part of the bag. If your DS wanted to be extra careful he could also carry a trash bag or some other type of plastic bag that he could put around the bag while on the water rides.

I agree with the previous poster. The AW stands for All Weather. It comes with a waterproof bag that encases the entire bag. I would just wear it on the ride and put it in the AW bag. It sure beats running around all over the park or risk not having the camera when he wants it.

Ya!
I am going to show him this post-I told him the same things, pull out the cover and if really worried we can put the camera in a ziplock or something inside the bag. It is a AW so it can withstand a splash or two :-)

On Splash, I think it would be fine. No so much on Kali. I have one of the really big Ziploc bags that are made for storing things like clothes. My whole bag fits in the Ziploc and then there can be no water get to anything.

I have that bag and did keep it with me on Splash and Kali (I put in on top of the 'pile' in the center storage area with the cover up) and it worked great. I wouldn't trust it on Grizzly River Rapids (in DL) but that ride is a SOAKER!

I haven't been to IOA so I can't speak to their rides.

Here are the locker sizes:

Small - 11"h x 9"w x 16" deep
Large - 17"h x 9"w x 16" deep

does your so know that the bag comes with a waterproof cover?

Those are water resistant, not waterproof. For most situations, that is enough, but on something like Kali where the water might slam you, it might not be enough. For example, I would walk through a typical rain shower without worry, but would not go jump in a pool with it on.

Yes he knows about the cover.

At least at IOA they have lockers by the coasters-he definately can't take this bag on Hulk or Dueling Dragons etc..so he will have to make it fit in the lockers :-)

He could also just put the camera in the locker and then leave the empty bag on the Coaster platform.

Actually the bag itself is water resistant. The cover is All Weather, I think that means water proof but who knows. Their website doesn't really explain it all that well.

I was considering it, so did a little research. To be specific, the cover is water proof, but does not cover the bag 100%. So, if you manage to get any water inside the cover it actually traps the water in. This is effective in most situations, but not all. I believe Kali would be one of the exceptions as you can get drenched on that attraction!

On Kali, I just put my cover over my bag, then put it in the storage section in the center of the raft. Worked fine. Now...if you are riding with people that put a lot of things in the center storage, it may not close all the way...then you are back to square one.

True!
