slightly OT- Shoney's, Park Inn

There is a Shoney's Restaurant adjacent to Park Inn Maingate. We don't have Shoney's in this neck of the woods...how's their breakfast? We have a new IHOP in the area, and didn't like it as we are accustomed to PA Dutch style fare.

I haven't been to a Shoney's in a long time since most of them in Florida have closed. The breakfast bar was OK, but Orlando and Kissimmee have numerous other breakfast buffets. I like the Golden Corral myself.

Our last trip over Easter made it a definate stop there.

As far as I'm concerned they have the best Biscuits and gravy!MMMMMMM!

The Buffet has your usual fair. Assortment of fruits and cereals. I love the way they serve their bananas. It's in some type of strawberry syrup, but have never asked what it is. The peaches are great!

Ok, they have your scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, chicken fingers, freedom toast sticks, pancakes, grits, did I mention the best biscuits and gravy!

They even have a salad bar! And if you are staying at the hotel you get a discount.

We stayed there in 2000 when it was known as the Larson. We found it clean and very conenient to WDW and other places. The pool is small but enough to cool off in. I have recommended them to other families who have a tight budget. We had a room which had a micro and small fridge.

But then again, this is just my opinion.

Is this the one which is very close to Water Mania? If so, then I don't like it at all I'm afraid.

IMO, there are much better buffets - Golden Corral is my personal favourite for breakfast or dinner, but Ponderosa is also pretty good.

The Shoney's I have been to just didn't have the same food choices, with some of the buffet trays empty for much of the time, and not being refilled. The one next to Water Mania was not the cleanest either.
