Hello experts,

As a brand new AKL owner, I am thrilled to be making my first reservation for next February. However, I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether I can book two different room categories to make up my 11-month+7-days booking option? Specifically, I would like one room at Jambo for Feb. 4 and 5th, then a room at Kidani for Feb. 6-11. Before I wait on hold with MS for a half hour to find out the answer, could anybody tell me if this would work? Thank you!

My understanding is that at the 11 month window on March 4 you would be able to book Jambo for Feb. 4-5 and then you would have to wait until March 6 to book the Kidani portion, which is when the 11 month window opens for that stay. You would only be able to book all at once on March 4 if it was one continuous stay in the same room category/booking category.

Correct, each reservation has it's own 11 or 7 month window.

Ah ok...so even if we were to stay at Jambo but, say, move from a standard studio to a savannah view studio, we would have to wait for the 11 month window to open for the savannah view start date? It's not considered one stay even if at the home resort and it's continuous? Just checking that I'm understanding the answers correctly!

yep, any time you (deliberately) move from one room to another - even within the same resort - it would be a different reservation. (If something were to happen during your stay and Disney moved you, that would be a different story.) Technically, it's called a "split stay": two or more reservations running together to make one contiguous vacation.

You should also note on the second reservation that it is a continuing reservation with the first reservation number. The room assigners will sometimes be able to get you into your new room a little early.

Another note - unless you are trying to book concierge or value level, you should never have to worry about getting rooms at AKL near the 11-month mark. You could easily wait until the 6th and book both reservations.

It is Concierge Level that we are trying to book, and the days leading up to our arrival and a bit afterwards are already booked- hence the necessity to stay elsewhere for the first two days. Those Club Studios really do take some work, it seems!

though i am sure the rooms will be available at AKL with certain category limitations listed above.
i have booked both locations under the 7 month mark for the savanna view.

but if you are worried about and if you have enough points you can do book both at the same time at the 11 month mark:
2/4 to 2/5 at Jambo and
2/4 to 2/11 at Kidani

call after 2/6 to drop the 2/4 and 2/5 at Kidani.

I'm confused about what you're trying to accomplish. Was your initial question a hypothetical? You said you wanted to book Jambo first, followed by Kidani. Club rooms are only available at Jambo. You will never have any trouble booking Kidani during the home resort window. With your example, you'd be booking most difficult first, so you should be fine; or at least in as good a position as possible.

Unfortunately, you may find that those CL villas keep filling up and you never manage to get your first day booked. As noted there are very few AKV CL villas and they are very hard to get - I suspect many people walk those reservations.

Sorry, I initially mixed up the names of Jambo and Kidani, as I am a total AKV newbie :headache:. I should have edited my first post, but the end result was the same as the responses were all helpful and just what I needed!

I'm pretty sure most people are walking, but exactly how far ahead is my question. To even start a walk, you'd have to find a day open. The last 3 years, I've checked now and then just to see...only once did I notice an opening!

OP - waitlist the CL room, but don't expect to get it. As you stated, the days leading up to and after your arrival is already booked. You'll notice that the dates beyond 11m just keeps getting booked.

To you it's one stay but to the booking system it is two different rooms. Each room is its own reservation and the 11/7 month window applies to each reservation.

There is hope...that is nice to know!! Congrats and Welcome Home!! We love AKL and will be there the first week of May...we got two value studios.
