How comfortable are the sleeper sofas and sleeper charis in the DVC units? Any that are especially comfortable or especially bad?

Would be for an adult sleeping on it for 7 nights. What are people's experiences? Feedback from any of the DVC's would be great.

Thanks!

I find the sleeper chairs more comfortable than the sofa for sleeping at OKW, and I'm a heavyset guy. Most (but not all) sofa sleepers at OKW are the old style with the bars, even though they were reupholstered during the recent rehab. The chairs are a thick foam on a solid suface and sleep more like a bed than the sofas.

I think it depends on where you're staying. The newer resorts seem to be more comfy. We've experienced AKV and BLT, and I could sleep on them without a problem. I think they might have the foam mattress or maybe the support doesn't have the bar. We recently bought a sleeper sofa like that. The ones at BWV and BCV aren't as comfy. I would recommend them more for kids.

Just back from OKW. The chair was very comfortable for an adult, my teenage boy slept on it without any issues.

I ended up falling asleep on the sofa as the sofa and found that to be much more comfortable than when pulled out as a bed.

We haven't had one of the older style sleeper sofas at OKW in a long time. We've always gotten the newer platform style with the thinner mattress. I thought the old ones were a bit more comfortable. The ones at BWV and BCV that flip from the back are more comfortable than most of them. My son thought the sleeper chair was the most comfortable.

I often sleep on the sofabeds at BWV because I like to fall asleep looking at Spaceship Earth. They have the foam type mattresses, no bar, and are comfortable (and my body is built for comfort, not speed, as my DH says). I do find the sofabeds clumsy to get out of. The sleeper chair at OKW is also fine, though a little on the firm side, which is fine with me.

DD (18) has never had any complaints about the sleeper sofas at SSR, VWL, BLT or AKV. Not all DVCs stock the same style sofa.

This last trip, however, DS (15, 5'9") took the sofa at VWL instead of his usual air mattress and noted that it was about as comfortable as the air mattress and the mattress was on the thin side. He also thought it makes a a lot of noise when moving around (I didn't notice from the other room)

The Kidani sleeper sofas are made differently and DD said they were better than some others she's slept on and just as good as a bed (disclaimer: this was before I bought her a new bed at home ). They also don't have the metal rail going along the outside edge making it hard to sit on the side like others do.

According to my kids

Sofa: Comfy at OKW, Vero and AKV Jambo
Chair: Comfy at OKW, Vero. NOT comfy at all at AKV Jambo. DSD16 slept on the floor with cushions (her idea) the last night.

Thanks for this thread. We will be at AKV-Kidani for Christmas and I have been debating on whether we should pack a cot to put up (we are driving and have the space). Some sofa beds are just not too comfortable. Is there room for a cot in a 1 bedroom villa at Kidani?

I realize that the OP was talking about WDW resorts, but from what our guests have told us both the sleeper sofa and the Murphy bed at the Villas at the Grand Californian are both very comfortable.

I was going to say that the sleeper sofas at OKW probably wouldn't be comfortable for an adult for an entire trip because my then 7 year old complained about it being uncomfortable.....but I see the sofas at OKW are the old fashioned kind judging by others posting

Not the ones we have had at OKW. We've had the platform style that were less comfortable than the old style ones with the bar.

My niece said it wasn't too bad, as long as you did not move. :rotfl:

Both the BLT chair and couch pull-outs were just fine. I'm generally very picky about beds, and found the couch to be the better of the two.
