sleep issues and pain

I have chronic pain and sleep difficulties. I use a lamb's wool pad at home on top of my mattress to help with pain relief. Have other people with chronic pain found that the beds at Disney World are comfortable? I am just wondering if it is worth bringing the wool pad since it is now up to $50 per extra checked bag each way. I am staying at POFQ.

I will tell you I found the beds harder (at CBR) than mine at home, depending on how long you are staying you may wish to consider shipping the pad to the hotel in your name with your arrival date, this may be cheaper than the $50 for an extra bag.

Or perhaps you can request extra pillows when you arrive, to help you get comfortable at night.

I was exhausted every night, after having walked a couple miles per day around the parks, that even with the hard mattress, I was quickly asleep.

Enjoy your stay!

I have Fibro, and found the OKW beds to be firm enough to support me, but soft enough for my body not to hate me in the morning. I haven't stayed at POFQ since I got full-on Fibro, but I seem to remember that they were good and comfy. The extra pillows idea is a good one, if you get there and find you need a bit more softness.

I know this is rather off topic, but have you ever tried any sleep aid tablets? I find that I get a much more refreshing nights sleep with my herbal sleep aids, and therefore have a lot less pain the next day, then when I forget to take them. You may well have explored this line already, but I just wanted to check, in case you haven't.

Wonder how bad the beds at AS movies are..
I have Fibro & have to sleep with a body pillow, & I will not pay extra to bring it. I sleep on a pillow top bed too. I will ask for more pillows to make up for my body pillow too.

I think it really depends on your mattress at home. I have moderate back pain that comes and goes. I stay at least 60 nights per year in a hotel. In the grand scheme of hotels Disney beds are pretty good, but frankly if you are worried about sleep $50 is a modest price to pay for a good nights sleep during your vacation. You could also get a prescription for Ambien or a strong pain killer to use on your trip if you think it will be an issue.

Talk to your airline, but i think if you check a bag of "medical equipment" that does not count against checked luggage. If your dr prescibes a mattress pad, they may let you check it with no charge... but i dunno, you'd have to check

You may have to hunt for the information on your airline's website. I've found if I do a search for "wheelchair" on the airline websites I can usually get that kind of information to come up.
If you need it for medical use, the suitcase should have only medical supplies in it. If it has other things, they can charge you. They didn't used to be 'sticky' about that, but with extra charges for bags on most airlines, they are becoming more picky.

I have Fibro too and just returned from 9 night's at POP. Even though I used a scooter most of the trip, I was so exhausted each night that I got in about 7 - 8 hours sleep each night. For me, that was wonderful as I usually only get 4 - 6 hours sleep and that is taking Ambien and Flexeril at bedtime. At home, I have a memory foam mattress so any other type of mattress seems hard to me. When I first sat down on the mattress at POP, I thought, I'd not be able to sleep on it but thankfully, I was wrong. :goodvibes
