Has anyone ever stayed in a skyauction resort with more people than what the ad says it will sleep? I am looking at a one bedroom at Vacation Village at Parkway--they say 4 people. We will actually have 4 adults and two small children. I am not worried about the space, I am concerned about extra charges or being turned away.

BTW--I love these boards. I have been reading them for over a year and have learned SO much.

TIA,

Allyson

how small under age 3 - then you should be okay - otherwise you would need a 2-bedroom.

One is 5 and one is 3. Will there be an extra charge for them?

I see you are my neighbor(kind of). I am in Andalusia AL. We go to Birmingham quite a bit.

no - you will told your party access the room capacity.

how about letting one person in your party check in - then the resort won't know....

but I don't know even then - these are 1-bedroom - but they aren't big enough, to me anyway, for the kids plus the adults. the kids needs a place that is quite so they can nap.

most 1-bedroom have a king in the master and a queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom - that is it for sleeping space.

Hi!!! always glad to see someone from AL - there are so few of us!!!

timeshares on the whole don't charge extra - but they can be upset if you try to put more in the room that they allow.

you risk the chance of being turned away. We own a resort property here in Canada and I have turned away many people who said they were 6 people but when they showed up they had 3 kids and 6 adults.

The occupancy of a room is set by the resort for a reason. (amount of towels provided, amount of hot water used, etc etc....) not to mention safety.

In case of a fire, the firemen would be looking for 4 people, not 6...Wait for a 2 bedroom. You will be much safer and won't worry about it going all wrong. The maids might turn you in???

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM SKYAUCTION...they are crooks, scumbags....search the net on them, they screw over anyone they can. You've been warned.

Oh please....No one here on the DIS is saying this...State facts if you have them but unless you do, then don't say anything.

I don't have to, google does it quite easily. They've also been known to plant shills on travel sites...

And that took google and 30 seconds, take a gander at google groups, but I don't have all day to cut and paste. I've been scammed by them myself, have dealt directly with the dishonest owners (Sal Esposito and crew), and will continue to tell anyone who values their vacation and/or money to stay far far away from them.

Hey Dooley,

Do a search on this board and see how many negative posters you find. We've used them 4 times and each transaction couldn't have gone any smoother. Stayed at 4 timeshare resorts for $250 or less on a weeks stay. I personally hope people do take your advice. Then there would be less competition for me! Nice doing business with these criminals! Seriously though, every business is going to have unhappy customers and SkyAuction is no exception. Glancing at the links you provided it looks like a lot of the complaints had to do with airfare and were pretty early in SkyAuction's existence. I can say with confidence that we have used them 4 times for the timeshares in the Orlando area and we will be using them again.

Dooley - all the complaints that I am seeing using your internet links are about the Cruises and Airline tickets.

Not their timeshares or even hotels.

I won't go with their hotels - but their timeshares are great!!!

try their timeshares only...

with cruises and airlines they have to out source these products - if there broker them they can do this and later on find out they can't - well sorry - it is the documents you are send.

I would never go with a cruise or airline with them.

for airline I go with SouthWest - there prices are hard to beat.

I got taken on a cruise and I don't know I will try another one period (okay Disney cruises might be an exemption)

I don't like their hotels because when you add the $32 per day price plus your bid - plus their surcharges (which they something add) it can be over $62 before you bid - lots of times the hotel website itself will have the same room for $64 - so it is just not worth bidding for most of the time.

that doesn't mean that sometime it might be.

I only encourage people to bid for their timeshares only!!!

I have heard several bad reports of cruise and airfare bookings. I've not heard more than a handful of problems with ready-set-go stays---what amount to banked timeshare exchanges that are going unsold---and plenty of very positive reports. So, as long as you are limiting your use of skyauction to what seems to work for people, you should be okay.

In the extreme, this is why credit cards allow you to dispute charges--and most reputable card companies will work with you.

So what condo/hotel were you scammed out of?? Since this is the Orlando HOTEL board, I assume you have some experience you want to share.

i personally lve skyauction, i would say to the op what they don't know won't hurt them people do it all the time, but i feel that is not alot of space for all the people in your party, keep looking on skyauction you might be able to get a 2 bedroom for the same, i don't thnk i would chance it.

Skyauction Twice did not deliver on an two different auctions. Recently, I "won" an auction allowing me to book a room for up to 7 nights in NYC anytime in 2012. I was again told that they did not have my chosen hotel but I can "request" one of 2 others. This company is a scam.

I now understand their BBB (Better Business Bureau) C Rating. I wish I had researched their company prior to trying to book a vacation. They have negative reviews strewn all over cyberspace and rightfully so. What an incredible waste of my time. I will go to a more reliable and honest supplier. I will do business with a company that delivers what they offer. And I will add to the negative reviews everywhere google leads me. They are the epitome of a "Bait and Switch" organization, a tactic that has been around since we began walking upright. They tire you out with their rhetorical statement citing their terms of sale. I have heard that tired old rap enough. All companies have similar terms but, Priceline, Hotwire, Quikbook and others deliver. Skyauction.com are charlatans. DO NOT USE SKYAUCTION

I've used Skyauction at least 2 times a year for the last 8 years, mostly for Disney but also for Williamsburg. Never had a problem. I mostly buy the resort certificates from them (right now you can get them for $199). I also go at off times so I usually get a good selection of resorts.

Don't know about others experiences, but I have used Skyauction several times over 10 years for timeshares in the Disney area and have never had a problems. Matter of fact we got Wyndham Bonnet Creek the first week in December and had a wonderful trip. My sister has used them at least a dozen times, again with no problems and also for the Disney area. Honestly, it will be my first choice for our next trip in October '12, I've already been looking:) Too early though, summer will probably start having a decent selection. I've never done a cruise or airfare, and frankly the hotels by the night don't seem like a good deal. But the timeshares by the week, those are frequently a very good deal.

I agree with this. LOVE Skyauction resort certificates!! Wonderful, wonderful experience!

Honor the terms of your contract. You are two people over the limit. Just wait for a two bedroom unit. Everyone will be so much happier.

I've used Skyauction 75 times to book timeshare stays and buy discounted restaurant coupons. I only had a problem once, when I won an auction 6 days before check-in over a holiday weekend and by the time they checked availability again, there wasn't any. The auction said availability could change, so it was no big deal since I hadn't booked airfare yet. I just try to book lodging at least 2 weeks before travelling now.

They have been great to deal with, both via email and over the phone when that problem did arise or when I have special requests.

I wouldn't buy airfare through them since I prefer to fly non-stop and choose my schedule, but I agree with the other posters saying they are great for booking timeshares.

They are not a scam. They just try to make a profit selling unsold travel items but since they can't prebook until they know the name of the winner, availability can change. Only use them if you can be flexible and be careful what you buy from them. Also, be patient when emailing them. It may take a day or two for them to respond. They aren't like a normal travel agency.
