Skip the Front Check-In Desk? Have you done this? Do I want to do this?

Well I did it!! I get in at noon and hope I get my assignment closer to noon than 4. Ill update when I return.

Also, I wanted to add that although I'm doing a solo night at PVs, I'll be heading over to GFVs on Friday.
My mom and her friend have already checked in. She did the online checkin (I wasn't aware LOL) and she sent me
the text she received with her GFV room number. Do you know that she got the SAME exact room that we had last year!
I put a request in for the specific location and she received the same room, so that worked perfectly.
Hoping to get a text tomorrow with a 2 or 3 in the front, so I guess that will be my floor.

That's not what it means for us in May. We were AKV concierge and had checked in but the room was still being worked on. We could see what room that was since we were told our request had been met and that narrowed it down and there was only one housekeeping cart out. When it was ready and we saw housekeeping leave we received that same text. For whatever reason something wasn't working in the system to send us the number. But since we basically knew the room we just walked over and used our MBs to enter.

For us that message meant that there was a problem with our magic bands. We had multiple bands active and we were doing a split stay. Received the message at both resorts and it took several attempts for them to get it corrected at both places.

No, that's not what it meant. There were many reports around the same time of receiving that text and the only thing that happened was being told the room number. As I mentioned the text was generated when housekeeping finished the room so it was ready. A glitch of some kind is what I suspect.
 
Is this the same as online check in? Or is there something different where you can bypass the front desk? I completed my online check-in, but it would be great to not have to go to the front desk. We want to hop off the ME and hop on the bus to Epcot!

I have free iPhone messaging. Can they text me my room number?
 
I used it on my last trip (POP). But the bus drops at the front door so I wanted to get a map of the hotel but there was a girl standing with an IPAD and she scanned me, and gave me a welcome packet, room number and we were on our way (5min total)
