Hey all!! Well, vacation time is nearby and i felt that it was time to swoop through here to say hi and get some tips ^o^.

My gf and I are planning on going to Keystone, CO with a couple of her friends. We were planning on getting a 2-2 condo thingy so that it'll be a lil cheaper for each couple and more space. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, should i buy ski lift tickets ahead of time. We're going for 6 days and we may not ski everyday. Any suggestions or comments about Keystone would be very appreciated! Thanks!! good to see you guys again ^^

I've never been to Keystone, but we were thinking about taking a ski trip to either CO or Utah. I have skiied in Utah at Solitude and Alta and absolutely loved it. I'd be interested in hearing what people say too.:D

hmm....maybe no one that frequents disneyworld likes skiing..

odd

You might try asking this question at killingtonchat.com

Not having skied west I can't help you. However if I wuz in your shoes I'd go to the keystone website and see what the ticket costs are. If you know you will only ski every other day and the lift tickets don't allow for that option then you might want to choose to go for a daily pass AND search on line for a source of discounted lift tickets. Usually these can be had at ski shops and places of that ilk...

Unlike disney, ski resorts know how to do discounting. Only in the last year did I pay over $40 to ski in the bigger resorts in the Northeast...even though the price at the gate was pushing $60.

Fooboy, Keystone is a nice place to ski, but it's been so long since I've been there, I can't really tell you about condo rentals. Being a "local", most of the time we take day trips up the pass and then drive back down after a day of skiing.

I'm more familiar with Copper Mountain and Vail; I could give you info about those. Sorry I can't be of more help!!

The following website may help you with Keystone lodging and tickets: http://www.skicentral.com/keystone.html

I hope you have a great time!

My boss use to ski every year he would federal express all his ski stuff ahead of time.

When he got there it was all there. No carrying around. When he was done with the trip he would Federal Express it back.

I am not a skier but thought it was a good idea. :chat: :chat:

Although I do live in Colorado, I don't ski. Nor do I spend much time in the mountains, sorry. Just thought I'd give you a bump!

I prefer Breckinridge to Keystone. There's a lot more variety in the skiing, and more places to stay. And Breckinridge has a great little Victorian mining town that's just a few blocks from the slopes. At Keystone, there's not as much to do, besides the skiing.

thanks for the replies guys :)!

Yeah, my uncle told me about there not being much at Keystone after a certain time. I am trying to change our plans to Breckenridge at the moment...i think. Jeez, season is coming soon and I don't even know where we're going!! ^^ lol. anyways, imma start cramming for another exam coming up on Friday and plan this trip. whoa. deja vu.

We love skiing! Unfortunately we have never been off the east coast. This year we are finally going to Utah. We chose a hotel since I am not a condo fan. We got lift tickets together with our room that cover our entire stay. Did you check to see if there are any discounts for tickets? If not then I would just wait. Maybe the closer you get the better the chance for a discount.

I think you'll really like Breckenridge. If you have any specific questions about the location of some of the lodging your considering, I might be able to help. I don't know the place like the back of my hand, but I do have a general knowledge.

thanks b!

IF we do go to Breckenridge, one thing that we have to keep in mind is that we will be completely relying ourselves on the shuttle services. How is that system btw? is it free to the public? How late does it run? :)

So with this in mind, i suppose we're gonna need something fairly central. Anything pop into mind?

Thanks a bunch!!

fooboy, our latest trip (New Years of 2002) we didn't have a car. We relied on the city-wide shuttle, which is free and walking.

We stayed at a condo right across the street from Beaver Run (Peak 9). Beaver Run has their own facilities right there (ski rentals and storage, lifts and lessons) so we never had to start out the day at the main base area (much more crowded than the base area at Beaver Run).

The walk to the main part of town from where we stayed is about 10 minutes. We opted to use the shuttle mostly because it was really, really cold while we were there and my 10 year old was kind of wimpy about that. If the temperatures had been more moderate, it is not an unpleasant walk at all.

I think the shuttle service runs until at least midnight, maybe later.

awesome b! thanks a bunch for ur suggestions ^^.
how crowded was it? My dates are 1/3-1/9. Thanx!
