I thought I had heard or read that MBs could be sized down for kids. How is this done? Does it do something permanently to the MB? Actually, I was thinking that I may have seen it on the 2014 WDW planning DVD. I gave it to a friend so I haven't been able to go back and watch it. Thx!

it's a permanent transformation. You just remove the inner part of the band from the outer dark grey part.

the outer grey part of the magic band is removable for kids. This grey part cannot be put back on so once you remove the grey part of the magic band it is in kids size for good.

I take it that it is not necessary to size a band if when you customized it you request a small child size? Is it only the gray (or grey for you Brits!)

The band is sent out with the gray part intact. If the band is too large, which it was for me, then the gray part easily is snapped/detached from the MagicBand and greatly reduces the size.

Yes, I removed my grey portion as well. I found it fit much better as a "child" size even though I was celebrating my 50th birthday:lmao: I just wish the Disney watches would be able to be adjusted to fit my tiny wrists so they wouldn't slide around so much:confused3

My neighbors kid told me I have pencil arms :rotfl2:. I had to remove the gray part on mine too and it fits perfectly. And I totally understand about the watches! It's hard to find something stylish that will actually fit.

If you mean the metal link watches, I took mine to a jewelry repair place (there's a stand in the mall, they'll polish jewelry, replace watch batteries, etc.--but probably any jewelry store can do it) and they removed several links until it fit right. I broke the growth plate in my left wrist as a pre-teen, so my wrist is freakishly small. It cost like $10.

Just a suggestion for those who prefer the kid size, but also prefer the look of the grey on the edge...

Cut off the excess grey! Fit much better (no bulk!) and still looked more adult-like...

There is no child's size to order.

Grey is a color you can get in MBs, but all of them have another, different shade, grey part around the colored part. That part can be peeled away so you have a smaller band.

And don't automatically assume that you will have to peel it away for a child. My guy is 9 and although peeling it would work for today, next week he might have a growth spurt that would make it not fit.

For those adults who are in between, you can also cut away part of the grey part, to make it smaller, but not THAT small.
