Sizing for the HP robes?

We're planning a September trip back to Universal (and WDW), and DS wants Gryffindor robes.

Universal is at the end of our trip, but we're considering the WDW Halloween party, and I bet you he'd like to go as Harry Potter. So I'd like to get those robes earlier in the vacation. Which makes me think that I should order them online at UO's merchandise website so we would have it from the start.

The sizing chart is pretty generic though.

So does anyone know how the fit is for the robes? If I go by height on the chart online, I'd go with the medium, which has the age 9-10. He's not quite 7, so it's weird to order that size. Do the robes really go by length, and that's all I need to worry about?

Of course I'd kinda like to get him one just a tad too long...I can use double-sided tape for a temporary hem so he can use it longer...but if the shoulders for the Medium are going to truly be for a 10 year old, it would look silly. Not to mention the *sleeves*, which would be difficult to temporarily shorten without changing the look.

Any thoughts? Did anyone buy their 6 year old (currently 48+ inches and around 50 lbs) HP robes and have comments on the fit of the thing?


(and none of this was supposed to happen...in December while looking at the robes at Ollivander's DH said "I can make him some robes", but he's been too busy and now he's entering the busy part of work and will definitely NOT be able to make this for him...so we'll "outsource" the work LOL)

I haven't looked for a children's robe, but I believe the adult robes that you get from the universal orlando website are different from the adult robes you get from Warner Bros (which releases the movies). Just thought I would mention it.
