Size of sand pads on the tent camping loops?

We will be at the World in October and are considering a few days at FW. We are tent campers, but our tent is a very large 16x16 canvas tent. I am wondering if it will fit on the pad? We have had trouble in a few state parks as the thing barely fits on some pads and requires very large metal stakes to hold it up.

We are DVCers, but I've always wanted to camp at DW and it seems October would be the perfect time to do it!

Thanks in advance for any replies,
Amy

From what I've seen, all the pads in loop 2000 are plenty big enough. Loop 1500 has some sites with trees in peculiar places, like smack in the middle of the pad. The metal stakes shouldn't be an issue either as long as you are on the pad. I'd definitely have the size of your tent noted on your reservation, Disney will do what it can to try to accomodate you, of course no guarantees on requests.

16 x 16, that's huge! I'm not sure I've ever seen one that big. Sounds like a condo tent, with multiple rooms.:thumbsup2

As a previous poster said, make sure when you make your reservation over the phone to tell the Cast Member the size of your tent and to note it on the ressie (or if reserving on-line call back later to get this info added). The Fort site assigners will make sure you are in a site that works if they have that info. I agree that you'll likely be in the 2000 loop but it's fine.

BTW, the weather in October is usually beatiful. Enjoy!

PS-I'm thinking about getting a used 10x12 canvas tent this summer. Not that I have a need for one but I think it would be neat. I can get it and a 3-piece set of poles for a little over $100. Would be nice to set up in 1500 loop in the fall for a week or so. No pop-up to tow!

Thanks for the help. I'll ask for loop 2000 and give them the tent size when reserving.

Our canvas tent is quite large, but it is only one room. All four of us sleep in the same tent. It is a medieval style tent that we use for doing camping events with a medieval history group we belong to. The reason we use it for our other camping trips is that it is sooo much more comfortable than a nylon tent - the roof is higher, the canvas keeps us drier, is cooler in hot temperatures and warmer in the cold. Once you experience a canvas tent - you never want to go back to nylon!

So now folk are over here asking regular camping questions ?
okay.:confused3
