Six points need used by Dec

I am in the process if buying a contract that has 6 points that need be used by the Dec (2013) use year. I will be getting zero points in Dec (buying stripped contract for 2013). What are the mechanics that allow me to use the 6 points? Once we finish closing we can look for a studio for a Saturday night and drive up to WDW for the weekend. How do we "add" the extra 10+ points we will need to fill out our one night reservation? Can we rent points from someone and have them put in our account? Can we get one time points from Disney?

You should be able to buy one time use points. I don't see why not. Or maybe rent them from someone to make up the difference? I don't know for sure. I've never rented before.

You could buy points to transfer from the rental board or buy from Disney direct. I believe the points direct from Disney are $15 per point and are limited to 24 points per year. You could likely get them for much cheaper on the board, but Disney would be much easier. For the $100 to $150 difference is it worth it to you to go through the transfer and pay someone else?

I wasn't fully aware we could just grab some points from Disney. For the small amount we will need that will be fine. Thanks for the info.

We were 10 points short for our last trip this past June and just purchased them from Disney. Maybe not the cheapest way, but surely the easiest.

I could be wrong but I do not believe you can rent 10 points from someone and combine them with your 6 points to book a room for one night. You maybe could find someone who would transfer 10 points which would give you the 16 you need for one night, but since we only get one transfer per year most people would not want to use their transfer on only 10 points.

Your best bet is the one time purchase of points as the other posters have indicated which would give you the 16 poiints that you need. It will cost more, but it's probably your only alternative at this point.
