We will be leaving for CA in a couple of days. In addition to DLR my kids want to visit Magic Mountain. Just wondering if someone could help me out with info on the discounts available if any. I am a member of AAA. THANKS!!

There are also special coke cans out at grocery stores right now, that offer a $10 coupon on the back.

Stop into a grocery when you get here and check it out.

We are going to Magic Mountain soon and using our Six Flags Georgia season passes. Perhaps you are members of a SF park in your area. They are good around the country! Very good deal! :D

Thanks for all the tips! Georgia Mickey Fans I can understand why you have season tickets to the Six Flags park in your area. We have been there and that is a great park. However our park- Six Flags New England- is TERRIBLE!!! I promised myself the last time we were there that I would never go back. Everytime we have been there several of the rides have been closed either because they broke down or they were simply not operating them that day! That is why my kids are looking forward to Magic Mountain. We have never been there!:p

Magic Mountain is a great park, (I should know there, It was my summer job through high school - Living in Valencia does not offer a teen many career opportunites ;)), but just expect it to be a thrill park and you'll be ok.

MM will never take the place of DL or Even Knott's in my heart, but it is great for a scream. I'm not a daredevil, but not a wuss, so there are things that even I like. Here are the don't miss rides in my book (Although I think Ghostrider @ Knott's far outpasses any ride on the west coast).

--Superman -- Go up -- Go up FAST!!! I'm afraid of heights, so I came off of this ride crying. Never again...Never again. Everyone else loved it though. ;) (I'll be drinking my water outside ninja waiting for them).

--Batman--Depends on the person. I liked it, but certain people have said that they "blacked out" due to the intensity of the loops. I don't go often...it is for those "Brave Days"

--Riddler's Revenge - Very Smooth stand up coaster - I call it the big green mean machine. ;)

--Goliath -- Did I mention I'm afraid of heights!!! ACK! (The only ride I have ever looked at and felt sick!). I am terrified of this ride.

--Viper--Fun loops, but fairly smooth. If you have young girls in your party, make sure that they take out their earrings, because short stature mixed with earrings = PAIN!

--Revolution -- One loop - A good "starter" ride.

--Jet Stream -- Fun Flume Ride

--Log Ride -- Another Flume Ride.

--Ninja -- A swinging coaster that almost everyone can handle...not very intense, in fact I find it relaxing, although NEVER walk to the top of Samurai Summit - Always take the Transport up.
...Unless you want to ruin your feet for the rest of the day, of course. ;)

These are only a few. Have fun.

P.S. - Don't and I repeat DON'T eat the food at Magic Mountain if avoidable. Bring your own water too. Food is way too expensive (The only worthwhile place was Mooseburger Lodge, but that is gone now), as well as problems with Valencia "pests." Look you live in the desert, and you're gonna have some problems with bugs, spiders, rats, etc...You don't want to know what I've seen.
(If you want a safe place and decent food, eat at Laughing Dragon Pizza on Samurai Summit. Never heard of a problem there.)

Little Known Fact: Magic Mountain was the park featured in the opening to the TV show : Step By Step. What you say? Valenica is in the desert, and the park in the credits was by water? That my friend is the magic of Computer Generation. ;)

FWI...Mooseburge Lodge is still open. My son worked there 2 weeks ago for a football fundraiser. MM is also the park they used to film National Lampoon's Vacation. They called it Wally World. Don't forget about Hurricane Harbor right next door. A great little water park and a great respite from the heat.

Wow, that's great news. I had heard that Mooseburger was closed for good (was closed almost all last winter). One thing to keep in mind for anyone who may read this later is that unlike other parks, Magic Mountain doesn't just cut its hours in the off season, it deletes full days. Unless it is around a holiday, it is typically only open on Weekends during the winter.

Something to keep in mind
