Sitting?

Hi,

We have PS on NYE. We actually are having dinner earlier, with our band friends, but we made the ressie because we wanted a place to sit and relax, go over the day, while we wait for the fireworks. What do you all think about us doing this (and tipping the waiter $20 for letting us have dessert and coffee only - I waited table for years, and wouldn't dream of stiffing a waiter).

Do people make PS to have only apps, or dessert?

Yes, you would have to make a PS for app/drinks/dessert. You are taking up a table in a sit-down full service restaurant. I think it is thoughtful that you will tip the CM for what he/she maybe loosing on full course diners.

Thanks for understanding that I wouldn't dream of harming a waiters salary. I think that people forget that that's what tips are. My plan is to lead with the $20, so they know that it's not going to be a 'lip tip' (that's when the customer spends all dinner telling the server they will be taken care of, so the server goes the extra mile, then the customer leaves, at best, 10%. Lip tip).

My understanding from the CM I made the PS with was that this was the last seating of the evening - my guess is, they are aware that people will want to hang around for the fireworks. But I'm going to call back and double check - I sure don't want to take up space when someone is really hungry.

Well, I just got off the phone with Disney Dining, and they told me that the last reservation for the evening is at 10pm. So even if by some miracle I did get seated exactly at 9:40 (and I understand that even with a PS, you have to wait for next available), there would be no reservation behind me.

There is no closing time listed, at least none that the CM on the phone could find for me.
