Sorry my title is not the best...

But I remember seeing a couple people post about sites they've signed up at where they'll e-mail you when new free books come available. I can't find that posting anywhere though.. have spent the last 30 minutes browsing all the Kindle postings here. Does anyone have those sites available?

I'm trying to build a very small library for my mom for when I give her the Kindle, and want to make sure we're not going to miss out on a book she might really like if it's free before Christmas, then changes back before she gets her Kindle.

Also, anyone know how I could do this? If I download these books to my computer, is there going to be any way to get them onto her Kindle for her? I have the Kindle app for my itouch, but don't have a Kindle, so not sure if there will be a way to transfer books.

Thanks, :)

There are thousands of free, legal, and easy to download books right on Amazon. When you register her Kindle she can have her own account or you can share an account if you have one. We added my MIL to our account. You can have 5 or 6 devices. We have 2 kindles, 2 itouches and my husbands ipad registered to the account. This way we all get anything that one of us buys. For me the easiest thing to do it right on her Kindle. Got to the kindle store. choose the top sellers list. Then near the top you will see 100 top paid. you can switch this to 100 top free. it will give you the list of top 100 free books. "Buy" the ones you want (for zero dollars). You can also see how many stars they get to see what people have already said. Sometimes the free ones are religious and one time there were a bunch of adult options so read the descriptions. Amazon forums has good discusions for Kindle so you can also get ideas there. I do this every week or two and new ones always end up near the top because all the kindle owners are doing the same thing. You can also search by name. all the classics are free. I have little women, jane eyre, oliver twist, etc. just search for them and then "buy" them. cost is zero.

Thank you, :)

The problem is, when she does get her Kindle, we're going to register it to her computer/own account, so it won't be linked to mine in any way.

I see where there's an option to send books as gifts to an e-mail address, but unfortunately it doesn't let you send free books.

Any way that I could be stockpiling free books to my computer, then get them to her computer somehow?

The one I use is http://booksontheknob.blogspot.com

Downloading to the computer will only work if you use her account. Each book, when downloaded, is tied to the device you downloaded it for (kindle, Kindle for PC, Kindle for android, etc). If you download it on your account it will only work for your devices.

Download the books through her account and if her kindle is not purchased use Kindle for PC (or MAC if that is what you have). Then when her kindle is purchased just go "manage digital content" and tell it to send the books to her kindle.

On Facebook, there is a group called Pixel of Ink that has alerts of free books for Kindle. Love it!
