Site suggestions in 1500 loop?

I know this question has been asked before and I've read every thread that I can find, but I've yet to locate the specific information that I am looking for so I thought I would ask here.

I'm taking my family to FW in a few weeks and we have a partial hookup site reserved. I'm getting ready to call them and make site requests. However, I have never stayed in a partial hookup loop and don't know which site number(s) to request. We will be staying in a 24' popup with an awning and an additional 13'x13' screen room. I would also like to be able to park our tow vehicle.

So I am looking for a site large enough to fit our needs that is shaded and private. I do not find it necessary to be near to the bus stop or the CS, but would not mind it if it was still somewhat private.

I have read that 1503 and 1517 are good sites that might fit our needs. I also saw a picture of site 1518 and it looked promising as well (can't tell about the size though).

Anyway, with size and shade being my primary concerns...what site(s) would everyone recommend?? And what's the best way to make a request?

Pics would be great if anybody has some to share.

The conventional wisdom on this board is that it is more advisable to request a loop then it is to request a specific site. The 1500 loop only has 21 sites, and because of its desirable location, it generally stays full. It is pretty unlikely that the exact site you request will be open exactly on the day you arrive.

I would say that any site on the 1500 loop would easily accommodate the equipment you described. So would any site on the 2000 loop. In considering making your request, you should take into account that there are 21 sites on the 1500 loop, but there are 69 on the 2000 loop. That makes a total of 90 partial connection sites in the Fort. So, 23% of the partial sites are in the 1500 loop, and 77% of them are in the 2000 loop. If you want to be on the 1500 loop, ask for that- not a specific site. Understand, however, that the odds are that you will be assigned to the 2000 loop, simply because of the disparity of sites between the loops.

If you want to request an assignment to a particular loop, fax your request to the campsite assigner 5 days before you arrive. The number is 1-407-824-3508.

Good luck!

Thanks TCD. I have always requested a specific site in the past and have mostly been given the exact site that I have requested. However, I must admit I was not requesting a site in one of the more popular loops (1100). Anyway, I guess it might be a little idealistic to hope for the same in the 1500 loop due to the limited number of sites.

Oh well, I follow your advice and request 1500...because I really do not want to be in 2000. That's a long bike ride back from the dock late at night!

I have stayed in both the 1500 and 2000 loops and although both are very nice and have their perks, I must say that 1500 is hands down my favorite! I don't really think there is a bad site in the loop. They are all close to the CS as well as the bus stop and a very easy bike ride or walk from Meadow TP and the pool. The only site that could be iffy is the one that backs up to the bus stop. It can be loud into the wee hours of the morning.

The last site on the right before exiting the loop is iffy too. The area next to the site is underwater when we have heavy rains, not to mention one time I biked past there and there was this young woman sitting there in her pj's eating breakfast with her kids and she had no makeup on. Horrifying I tell you, horrifying. Never went back by that site again.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hey, I resemble that remark!!!! :lmao: (Well, we only had one child with us, and I never ate outsite in pjs, just for that reason.;))

That's the site we just left yesterday morning! It's as dry as can be now, they're actually watering the new bushes that have been recently planted.

The only site that wouldn't work too well for the OP would be the one on the outside in the back, #1513 I think. The sand pad is about half the size as most of the others on that loop. It does back up to the large canal though. The site right across from that one was the deepest site on the loop. Was is 1512?
Anyway, I requested 1500 and got it, so you might as well try, you just might get lucky like we did.:thumbsup2
