Sinus problems... ARGH!!!

My sinuses are driving me crazy!!! I've been congested since Friday, running a low grade fever (99.5 or so), up at night wheezing (I have bronchitis that flares up from sinus drainage... sorry, tmi), etc.
I've tried hot showers, decongestants, saline flushes (that was gross!), etc. but I'm still clogged. Any suggestions?
I bought those Breathe Right nasal strips but I'm afraid they are going to hurt coming off!
HELP!!!

I'm on a combination of Allegra D and Sudafed that is slightly helping.

Also, a good facial to massage the sinus areas worked wonders this weekend.

I've had a sinus infection for three weeks now---yes three weeks on Thursday it will be four weeks.

I'm on three different Rx's for it now.

DW and I swear by Sinus Buster - it is a nasal spray with a cayenne pepper extract in it. It burns like crazy for 10 - 15 seconds, then your sinuses begin to drain and your headache goes away almost immediately.

Advil Cold and sinus also works for us.

I get nonstop sinus infections so I completely understand how you're feeling. The sure fire remedy I have for congestion problems is this:

- get a crockpot and fill it with water. Set it to high
- drop some vicks vapor rub in it
- grab a face cloth or a towel

you can either cover your head and breathe in the steam, or you can keep dunking the face cloth in the hot water and cover your face with it.

I'm not bad enough for antibiotics just yet, but I'm going to get on them if there is no improvement or if my fever goes up.

Whenever I'm getting a sinus infection, I try to stay decongested 100% of the time. I always take Tylenol Nighttime Sinus and Allergy medication at bedtime. It has something to help you sleep as well as decongesting and relieving the pain. For my body weight, I take one of the tablets, rather than two, since two will make me really groggy the next day. Do get antibiotics if you really need them though. My Dh has to go on strong ones, and he stays on them for ten days, rather than a week, in order to knock the infection out. He's already somewhat resistant to the antibiotics, since he has had so many infections throughout his adult life. Hope you feel better soon!

The last sinus infection I had, I was running a 103 degree fever and they put me on something in the Cipro family. I'm not convinced this is bacterial just yet as my fever is pretty minor and.... let's just say things don't look bacterial just yet.
I'll try the steam. I'm a bit skeered of the cyan pepper stuff!
What do ya'll think about the Breathe Right strips? Am I going to have a Breathe Right shaped scab on my nose after I rip it off?

Oh, I feel your pain. I seem to have perpetual sinus troubles...Advil Cold and Sinus helps, but it (along w/ anything with pseudoephedrine) knocks me out...so nighttime only. Other than that, hot tea, hot showers and lots of patience are all that really help. Mine are almost never bacterial, they just happen constantly. I think it's an allergy to mold, sadly my school is full of it.

I am on Ketek right now. I have bronchitis for the second time in four months. The cure is almost worse than the illness. I hate antibiotics. They make me feel so bad. What ever happened to amoxicillan? I could actual take that without feeling like I'm going to be ill.

I have been dealing with a sinus infection since Novemebr. I'm currently trying another antibiotic. Doc said next time i come in he would think about surgery. What would that be . I am one of those people who never take antibiotics and I think i've have taken more antibiotics for this infection than I have in my whole life . He also gave me a precription sinus spray. Then I turn around and get some kind of bug this last week, along with fever and just plain feel like crap. Ok, well I guess I wasn't much help . Susan
