After months of reading others PJs and not being able to share many of my plans for my wedding with others, I Finally decided to start my own PJ.

My name is Sinta and I'm 32, my fiance is Zach and he's 34. We met through my best friend. We never thought we'd be together much less getting married when we first met. I thought he was a way too nice nerd and he thought I was out of his league. We started meeting up for dinner just as friends and before long found out how much we had in common. We talked about our dreams and thoughts of the future and it all clicked. We've been together ever since.

The Proposal

After several weeks of trying to cajole me into going on a little overnight get away, Zach planned a weekend in the Gas Lamp District in San Diego. (We had spent our 1st Valentine's Day there.) I kind of had an idea that something was up as we had been talking about getting married and there wasn't any reason for us to be away for a weekend, but I wasn't sure.
Zach took me out for Sushi. (Mmmmm, my favorite!) In the parking lot he dropped what I thought was a "coin" on the ground and I teased him for chasing down a nickle. As dinner progressed I had forgotten about why he might have brought me there. ( Enjoying sushi take precedence over anything else!) At the end of dinner he got down on one knee and proposed with this gorgeous sapphire ring that was Huge! Of course I said yes. He was beaming the whole way back to the hotel. Later he told me that "coin" he dropped was the ring!!!

Our Plans So Far

Our date is set for Sept. 24, 2011. The ceremony is going to be an evening affair at the Rose Court Garden, with cocktail hour on the Dreams Lawn and reception at the Sleeping Beauty Pavillion.

I am having mine and my bridesmaid dresses custom made as they will have traditional lace overlays or kebayas. My kebaya should be on its way and hopefully I will receive it in 2-3 weeks. Then I will be able to buy my dress. Unfortunately I have not been able to talk Zach into starting to look at tuxes just yet.

WOOHOO, Another Disneyland Bride!!! Congrats and welcome! Your engagement story is so cute! Who is your planner?

A great way to up your post count is to post on other people's PJs ... even if it's just to say "hi, nice to meet you!" :D I am very interested in seeing your dress, it sounds very pretty!

Also, if you are on facebook be sure to join a group a started called Disneyland Brides. :bride:

:

Sue Romano is my planner, though she is not my original planner. My original planner Kelly Feeney was promoted, which is great for her and sad for me. I have yet to meet Sue.

Save the Dates

We haven't had our professional engagement shoot yet. Those photos I plan to use later. We had a friend meet us at Disneyland to take a few engagement photos for our save the dates. There was one that I really liked taken at the Sword and the Stone, but it didn't say Disney enough for me.
Unfortunately the one photo that did my friend took a blurry picture. Luckily there was a Disney photographer and I paid for that photo. The up side to that is now the photo looks like it was "signed" by Mickey :)

DIY Invitations

Since it was way too expensive to buy custom Disney invitations and I didn't like the only non custom invitations that fit my theme, I decided to make my own.

I do not suggest you do this unless you decide to do something simpler than I did or have a Lot of time on your hands like I do!

Place Card Votives

So I found this awesome idea for place cards. Luminary place card votives. I saw a online store that made place card votives. After seeing how expensive they would be to order, I found this tutorial online on how to print and cover the outside of votive holders myself.

I am So impatient to start this project, but I have to wait until I know what my guest list will be. If you haven't figured it out yet, I love crafting!

Wedding Favors

Ok I know that the votives can double as my wedding favors, but I had already bought the supplies for my original favors after I decided to do the votives. Seemed a shame not to make my original favors specially since it's Disney specific.

I had fun getting messy in the kitchen with chocolate. I had bought was is called a cookie treat pan, but I used it for chocolate. It is the icon Mickey head that you make into lollipops. Though why you would call something that had groves for lollipop sticks a cookie treat pan is beyond me.

I talked Zach into helping me paint these favors blue, purple and silver. (Our wedding colors.) I put them in cellophane bags tied with ribbon and printed out stickers to put on the back saying if it is a dark or milk chocolate lolly. I also ordered little thank you tags from zazzle.

Wedding Party Presents

More DIY stuff. This is stuff that I plan on selling on etsy.com

A couple years back I modified hair sticks that I bought at the mall. The beads on them were blah, so I bought beads I liked and made them the way I liked. After looking online and not seeing anything I wanted to buy for my bridesmaids, I thought "Hey, I bet they'd like something like that I made for myself"

Of course I couldn't rest at just hair sticks. So now I'm in the middle of making hair sticks, a choker and earrings in matched sets for them. I started off making hair sticks for them to wear at the wedding in purple.

Let me tell you, beading requires lots of patience, blood and sacrifices to the kitty gods I live with. (Beads dropped and shooting across the floor are wonderful toys or so they think.) Food sacrifices were needed to pry those beads out of their paws)

Bridal Accessories

I received the tiara I ordered online the other day. I was so excited to see it. Unfortunately it did not live up to the pictures of it on the website.
I ordered a royal blue and clear crystal tiara. The tiara that came had royal blue Painted over the clear crystals. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I emailed the website with my complaint. They said that that's the way their supplier makes them. I told them that they are falsely advertising their product if that is the case. So now I don't know if I should still use it or return it. From a distance no one will be able to tell that it's painted, but....*sigh*

Ceremony Music

I am trying to figure out what music to play at our ceremony. I want to stay with Disney music for the most part. We are hiring a harpist to play. She has a long list of Disney music in her repetoire. The only exception for Disney music is when I walk down the aisle. I am hoping that she is able to transpose Jonathan Cain's "Bridal March" http://www.jonathancain.com/discography/solo/sounds/13_bridal_march.mp3
Seriously if you Never thought you would want to walk down the aisle to "Here Comes the Bride" click on that link and listen. You may very well change your mind!

...So I still need to figure out my prelude songs, processional, unity ceremony, recessional and postlude songs.

So here's a list of songs she is able to play.

Wedding Colors

I think I mentioned in another post that my wedding colors are royal blue, royal purple and silver. I don't think that I mentioned the fact that the pictures of the style kebaya and wedding dress in my first post are of the style only.

White is not a traditional color for my mom's country's wedding attire. Of course they have modernized the look with more a western style wedding dress as the base with a kebaya over it.

Anyways, I'm wearing a royal blue dress with silver kebaya. My bridesmaid will be wearing silver dresses with royal purple kebayas. So it will be a little bit of a switch between a bride and the bridesmaids as to who's wearing little/light colors. Of course royal purple is not a light color, but when its done in lace, it's simply an accent.

I just booked the harpist for the ceremony & cocktail hour and we booked our DJ a few weeks ago. Our DJ is from Essex England complete with accent :) This week is our tasting. Things are starting to happen faster! :woohoo:
