So my wife and I love the single rider experience as the shortened wait times are, to us, more important than riding together. Our oldest is now tall enough to ride everything but won't be 7 till later this year. Will CMs accommodate you in the single rider line so you can both end up in the same car? Has anyone done this?

It will depend on the attraction, but the CMs first choice is usually to ask in the regular line if there are any groups of two near the front. If they can't find them, then they'll fill them with the single riders.

The most stringent attraction is RSR. I have actually heard them say "no" to guests asking to be put in the same car. I have also seen where they alternate where they send guests. So they will send one person to car 1, one person to car 2, one person to car 3, working down the line until they get back to the first car making sure any groups in the SRL are split up.

I agree with mom2rtk. It defeats the purpose of the single rider line to fill in the spaces from the groups that have been waiting in line. However, if you want to wait until two spaces are available, you can ask the cast member if it would be okay to let other people in the single rider line to go ahead of you until two spaces are available. I think if you phrase it to the cast member in that way they wouldn't think you're trying to cheat the system.

And like previously said, they will try to fill two spots from the standby/fastpass lines first before going to the single-rider line.

This happened to my nephews and me, so that two of us ended the ride at the same time, and the other one was in a different "group" of cars, so even though he was behind me, he ended up finishing before we did and waited for us.

You're actually not allowed to get in the single rider line if you are under 7 years old, because you have to be old enough to ride alone. Also, what if it is their turn and the car that comes up doesn't have 2 open spots?

Yes, that absolutely defeats the purpose of single rider.

ashley0139 has it right, single rider line is for 7 and over. They turn back single riders under age 7, I've seen CM's ask and turn away children on a regular basis, including my own on a WDW trip. I have also seen CM turn away "single riders" groups who don't want to be broken up, giving them an option to take the available single seat or exit the line.

I may know of a pair of parents who taught their child to lie and claim to be 7 years, when if fact they were 6 years 7 months, so said parents did not have to ride the coaster for the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th times with the child. But of course, I won't name names.

Have you tried? It doesn't defeat the purpose. If there are two open spaces in a car they fill them with two single riders....

Yes, they will. But if there is a single seat and you refuse it, they make you exit the line.

The CMs will not find you two spots together. As others have said, they will try really hard to find a party of 2 from regular line.

There is a slight, slight chance yo could end up together, but you certainly can't count on it.

I don't think they would let you hang out at the front of single rider in hopes eventually getting 2 in same car.

A child under 7 can not use the single rider line because they are not allowed to ride alone. We used the single rider line on RSR a lot when DD was 7 to get in multiple rides as RSR was her favorite DL/CA ride. We had a man and his son in front of us in the single rider line one night and the boy was only 6. When they got to the front of the single rider line- or really the first checkpoint which is right by where you then go up the ramp area to the vehicle area-- they were told that they could not continue because the son was too young for single rider and after what was probably a 15 minute wait- they wound up having to backtrack and leave. When she is 7 you are free and clear to use the single rider line if you don't mind being split up, but until her birthday, she can not use the single rider line.

They will not put you together on request. It is pure luck if you end up together. We did SR on RSR and MH with my 7yo DD right after xmas. For RSR there were 3 of us so we had one adult go first then DD and then the 2nd adult so that there would be one of us waiting for DD when she got off and never had to wait alone (she didnt like waiting alone and wasnt real fond of single rider but she did great with it). They did not let us ride together at all. Our last day however we ran into some people we know and so the whole group of 6 of us went and DD got lucky and was put on a car with one other person from our group. DD was in front and the other person in the back seat but they were on the same car. But it was pure luck and not something the CMS will do on request. We heard CMs at the front of the line stressing that "you will be split up" to just about everyone entering the SR line.

On Indy they specifically say that you will not ride together. They often send out vehicles with an empty seat rather than put 2 SRs in the vehicle.

In addition to what others have said, I'm thinking that even if they allowed you to wait for two spots to be available (and for there to be no groups of two toward the front of standby/FP lines), it's really hard to say how long you would have to wait, and it may well cancel out the benefit of the single rider line. And you'll be split up during the wait if one parent takes a single open seat and the other parent waits for two seats. It doesn't sound practical to me, even if it was allowed. Also, it may depend on the CM, but I believe there are some rides where you have to be seated next to the 6yo, not just in the same ride vehicle (I saw a dad and 6yo twins taken off Screamin' because there was no way the dad could sit next to both kids), so on those rides you would potentially have an even longer wait. If I were you I would just try to make good use of FP and use single rider for anything your kid doesn't want to ride.

But if you want to try it, you can always ask at the front of the line and see what happens.

You're mentioning your 6 year old. Your 6 year old can't go into the SR line. So it doesn't matter if they would let you sit together, because s/he can't go into the line.

If there's an opening for 2, they will take a party from standby or FP.

We have had experiences where two of us end up in the same car on RSR, but it's by pure chance. And our son is old enough to be in the single rider line.

Exactly.

No, if there are 2 openings they will try from the Standby or FP line. I've seen them break up parties of 2 by sending one to the Handicap access line to wait.
