Single rider line problems

A friend of mine just got back and was really mad that the CM's at TT were letting families ride together but using the single rider line.

She said many cars were not filled because people were getting to the end of the much shorter single rider line then saying they were groups of 2 or 3.

Anyone else notice this?

They are usually very good at only allowing singles in that line at TT. I have seen them make the person go back in line if they didn't want to separate.

They are probably telling the first CM they are willing to split up--hence they get INTO the line. Then they tell the loading CM they want to be together. I will say--I've never seen this and actually saw a lady have a meltdown once because there were two seats in a car and they were splitting her and her "young" --looked about 10ish son up. She argued and argued that with 2 seats in the car they should be able to ride together. CM did not give in.

I've used the singles line with DH a number of times and we were never in anywhere near the same car. I have seen some mothers and child in the line who refuse to be broken up. Sometimes we've seen them get on the same car, sometimes they've made them get out of line and sometimes they have had them wait off to the side while many people ahead of them in the singles line have boarded.
Usually, they make announcements when you get into the line and periodically during the wait to tell you that you are in the singles line and will be broken into parties of one at boarding (their emphasis on "will"). When we've ridden, they have also announced that children must be at least 7 and able to ride alone to be in that line.

Maybe she was getting the single rider line mixed up with the people who work for the company that sponsors TT? (It's GM, right?) Don't the sponsors have special passes employees can use, sort of like Fastpasses?

I have seen this happen before as well. It once happened right in front of me and lets just say I didn't let it slide. My DH desperately wanted to ride since he had never been before. Well, the fast passes were valid for times after we were needing to leave the park (we had PS's at the Hoop-dee-doo), so we decided to wait in the AWFUL line. Man, that thing does NOT move. The only reason we inched up for the first 20 minutes was because of people getting out of line. However, we looked over at the Single rider line and they were flying through. Well, we finally make it up to board the ride and I see a family arguing with a CM to let them all ride together (and of course, they were in the single rider line). Now I have been in that line before and I know they repeatedly tell you that you will be split up, so I knew that they had been warned. I guess the CM didn't want to argue over this anymore and let a family of 4 go in one car...2 in the front and 2 in back. Normally, I would just sigh and say, 'Hey, I am at Disney, let it go." Sorry but after an hour and a half in a line you don't always have a rational way of thinking and I started going off on the CM. I asked him if he thought my DH and I should split up so the car would be full. Of course this was said very sarcastically. I felt bad later but honestly folks, get in the right line!!! SHEESH...

The problem is that there are too many people these days that think the rules are for all the other suckers (us!)

me and my sister frequently get in the single rider line because, being 17, we dont care if we end up riding seperate. however, more than half the time we have ended up together anyway. we have been in the same car on TT (diff. rows tho) and our first time on Mission Space we walked right thro the SR line and ended up going together cause they needed 2 people to fill in and there was no two people in the regular line. we were pretty happy about that. dont get me wrong, im not trying to cheat the system or anything because we honestly wouldnt care if we rode alone or anything but its a nice surprise to be able to!

There have been many times where people (families) in the single rider line just happen to end up in the same car. I know evey time I use it they always say, "you are in the single rider line, we cannot put you in the same car."

You are doing nothing wrong! If you enter the single rider line fully intending to ride by yourself and it just so happens that you end up with your sister - great!

It's the people that get in the SR line and then tell the CM that they are a group... Oh well, it's Disney -- I just go with the flow!

I've seen this happen at Men in Black at Universal and it's so irritating to me! People can fastpass/express rides they don't want to wait for or wait like anyone else. I think the CMs should send the families back to the regular line if they aren't willing to split up.

Nothing wrong with putting people together if that's the way it works out (like with you, Spam), but people shouldn't expect it.
