Single Rider Line Changes?

I was just reading another thread and the poster mentioned that it seemed that the single rider line at RnRC was shut down whenever there was a standby line. Has anyone noticed this? DD is the only one in our family who rides RnRC and EE, so I was going to send her through the single rider lines at these attractions and save our FP+ for other rides. If single rider is shut down when standby is long (which seems like always with FP+ having 100% priority over standby), it seems that single rider lines will be moot. Has anyone experienced the single rider lines now that we all get to use FP+?

Oh no..we were planning to use that strategy for my husband since I don't ride it. I hope someone can answer!

Actually, she said: "Whenever the SB line gets crowded", not: "Whenever there is a SB line." Not sure if this is new, but they were shutting it down in February over President's day weekend. In effect, the SB line was the Single Rider line, because the FP returnees were taking up so much of the ride space that only a few SB people got seated in dribs and drabs, just like the Single Rider line would. I can't see the need for both a Single Rider line and a SB line if both of them are only going to seat 5-10 people per limo.

I rode single rider at EE about 3 weeks ago without a problem. I always do this, and never wait in standby, as my friends and I don't care if we ride together, we don't buy photos, and if I go with my mother she doesn't ride. Haven't been to studios to ride RnRC single rider since everyone is using FP+. Did ride TT single rider in January, I can't recall if everyone had FP+ or not. WDW local I visit the parks so much it all blends together sometimes.

I should add, to clarify, that while we did see the RnR Single Rider line close (I think it was around 10:30 when they shut it down), we never saw the EE or TT Single Rider lines close. Doesn't mean that they didn't. But we never saw it happen.

Thanks for clarifying. I guess that my mind just jumped to "whenever there is a SB line" as now with FP+, it seems like there are LONG standby lines almost everywhere! (and yes, that's a jab at FP+, because just like 3<6, a 5 minute standby line for IASW was shorter than waiting the 30 minutes people are now reporting as the new norm :headache: )

Single rider still has it's benefit to fill empty seats left by odd numbered parties of both FP and SB, however, i can see them shutting it down if the SR line is too long, ie, the wait is longer than SB, but then reopen once those already in line have gone through

What they were doing was using the SB line as the Single Rider line by asking if there were any parties of one or three to fill in the gaps. If they remove the SR line, then singles use the SB line, so when the CM asks if there are any "parties of one", there would usually be one within earshot. But more often, the CM would ask for parties of three. I know, because that's what we were and we got moved ahead just a bit. A Single Rider line is a nice convenience for guests, but it is not a mathematical necessity if single riders occupy the SB line. You just pull the singles (and threes) out of the SB line.

I notice that they shut down the singles line at RnRc pretty often.I also notice that this is the slowest of the singles lines offered at WDW.Test Track has the best one since it's 3 per row it works perfectly.Everest even though it's 2 per row also moves pretty quick,RnRC however is rarely if ever quick.I have no idea why they shut down RnRc so often, even if the singles line is slow if the standby says 90 minutes I'll take my chances doing singles and hope it's less than 90.With the Disney parks usually so crowded it would be great if Disney could add singles lines to other rides,Universal has tons of singles lines and you can get a lot done quickly using them.

Maybe not a mathematical necessity, but extra work to slot parties of 3 with other odd parties since you must be sure you have enough pairs ready. The queue area for RnR is noisy and short. So what happens is they fail to get a single rider, find a party of 3, get them herded through the line (harder than just 1 who was is attentive and ready to move) meanwhile the line is paused on the 3 who need to fill an empty seat... for a fast loading queue. I bet many more seats go empty when they are not using the single rider queue.

It was definitely more obtuse and cumbersome, and more work for the CMs. But it seemed to work out in the end. As soon as the wait in the SB line got to be 90 minutes, everyone arriving started to pile into the Single Rider line and they soon cut it off. When the Single Rider line has 400 people in it, it starts to get rather silly. These people aren't "singles". They are simply "groups" trying to lessen their wait. So Disney says: Nope. You wait like everyone else. Does it hurt the true "single"? Absolutely. But from their perspective, true singles made up a minority of the single rider line. If that means that a few seats depart empty, they can live with that result.
