I'm a single mom, two children: Son will be 8 April 23rd, and Daughter is 5 1/2. I'm leaving Portland, Maine April 23rd (my son's birthday), and returning April 30th. We're staying 5 nights at All Star Movies, and the final two nights at Animal Kingdom. Anyone else going those dates. My son loves roller coasters and such, but I am not fond of heights or speed. Would like to team my son up with someone he can ride with. And it would be nice to meet other parents.
Thanks to everyone who answered my other posts on tips and strategies.
I bought Birnbaum's guide, and the one for kids too. We've read them cover to cover several times already!

Wish we could help you out - I have an 8 yr old too but we are hoping to be there the 2 weeks before that.

Just giving you a bumpty bump bump :goodvibes

Me and my family would love to help you but we are not arriving until mid afternoon on the 29th and will not be going to a park until Sunday the 30th.

Oh man I would love to help you out as I am a single mom that loves thrill rides but dd (5) does not!! But we are not going until the end of august. :guilty:

When DD was little, she always wanted to ride BTMR. I can't ride it. It is just to jerky and bothers my back. So, I would wait in the queue line with her until we got to the loading area. At that time, I'd tell the CM that she was going to ride without me. Invariably, a family would hear and offer to let her ride with one of them. I would exit and wait for her where the ride unloads. People were always very nice about helping us out.

Sorry I can't help you out...especially because I seldom have anyone to ride with and I love all the rides! We're going down the end of March (party of 4...all in our mid-50's) and I know I'll either have to pass the rides up or go alone. I would gladly "rent" your kids anytime if you don't want to ride. Oh, yes, and I come with references and travel with a school psychologist. :) My Dad rode Space Mountain at 80 something and my Aunt rode TOT at 84. Guess it's in the genes, eh?

This would be a problem mostly the day you're at MK, correct? Have you thought about contacting the Fairy Godmothers and seeing if you could hire one for that day to go to the park with you and ride with your son? I know they used to advertise that if you pay their admission, they will take your kids to the park...I assume they ride with the kids.

On our last ride on Buzz Lightyear we had another solo mom ask if her son could ride with my older son...we were each there with two children. The boys loved it...but it was the only time in 4 days in the park (DLR) that it happened naturally. I'd get really tired of trying to find someone at every big ride.

Matter of fact, if you do the Fairy Godmothers, it could save you time. You could go do things with your little one that the older one might not be interested in. Just an idea!
