We actually leave in 9 days :cool1:
and having never drivin before we decided to leave plenty of time so we can stay over somewhere one night as to not get too tired because of the 24 hour drive)
WELL DH announced this morning that he thinks we won't need the extra night anywhere and that we will get there on Friday the 15th rather than Sat the 16th...

SO do I call Disney Reservations that day and try to get in a night early at the WL or do I find an outside resort for that night -
what are the odds its probably booked solid anyways!
:confused3

tough problem to have I know :earboy2:

I would call now and add the night...this way no matter what time you get there you can get in your room and rest!! Your gonna need it after the drive...have fun!!! :flower:

Where are you driving from??? We're driving but we are taking a week to do it (shopping our way down the east coast!!!)

I'd stay off site the night before, you may end up wanting that night to stay on the road.

We have driven several times from just under Boston and depending on how many miles you need to cover I STRONGLY suggest staying overnight somewhere. My DH hates to fly so whenever he accompanies us we drive. We leave Boston somewhere between 1 and 3a.m. and that way we miss out on most of the major traffic concerns. We drive that first day until around 3-4pm and generally that gets us to the SC/GA area and then we swim, eat a good dinner and get to bed early. Next day we get up and drive the remaining few hours and check in. If you drive directly through all though it is definitley doable, you will pay for it your first day at WDW. Driving straight through can cause some VERY unDisney like behavior:crazy: ;)

Oh yeah and here is your dance(I'm new here so this is my first one) :Pinkbounc  :mickeybar (pretend there is a Dole Whip smilie here) princess: :Pinkbounc  :moped: :moped: Which ever way you decide have a fantastic time. :cloud9:

were out in the country about an hour from Boston...

I have been told it is a 21 hour straight through drive.

DH is use to long nights as he plows for the state and it has been a rough year for that - lol
We are leaving at 7 o'clock or so on thursday (the little ones are usually in bed a little after that time) I hope we don't hit any mad traffic - I figured midnightish in NYC can't be that bad! Also figuring he can drive til early am and then I can take over as I am a morning person...
We alloted the time originally so we would avert having any undis like behavior - lol :rotfl:
but he seems to think now that we won't need it -

We dive from an hour north of Boston and it generally takes us about 24 hours to Orlando 29 hours to Ft Lauderdale. We are leaving Friday or Saturday (must have time to go shopping!!!) and hit the outlets before we check in on the 14th.

Have a safe drive!

Okay I have to ammend that. If your DH plows for the state here he can probably drive you guys to California without any sleep after this winter. ;)
You guys must really need this vacation. :cool1: BTW-kinda off topic but tell DH thanks and job well done. I drive on the major highways all over MA and this year the DPW truly outdid themselves.

Long ago, when I used to enjoy driving, we'ld drive straight through, 21 hours, and I did all the driving, we would get a beach motel at New Smyrna Beach or even Cocoa Beach. This way, the kids got unwound, I got some needed rest, everyone got to see and play in the ocean. I'ld arrange the drive to get to the beach around 6am, gave eveyone that slept during the drive a whole day of ocean pleasure. and it was only an hour or two drive the next day, fully relaxed and ready for Disney. We'ld alway get to WDW around 9am and had a fullday ahead of us. I don't really like flying either, but have done it 3 times and still hate it but Now with all the traffic and trucks, we take Amtrak, but now its just me and the wifey. About the same amount of time, same amount of money as driving but I'm totally relaxed on the train, no strain, no fuss and no muss, and wife enjoys the train travel also.

pepe funny you mention Amtrak - dh wanted to try that but again with 5 on board then renting a van for 2 weeks it was crazyoney that i would rather spend elsewhere...
although something tells me that next time i will be MORE than willingf to shell out ANYTHING to fly - lol
