Since When Is Oklahoma Redder than Utah?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think McCain won Oklahoma by the largest margin in the country. According to CNN, not a single county in the state went to Obama.

It's tough being a liberal in these parts. It seems like the whole country is moving forward and Oklahoma is stuck.

I'm not sure how OK came out percentage wise, but KY had a pretty good gap too. Could the large military bases have any effect since the populations of the 2 states are smaller? Ft Campbell and Ft Knox voted overwhelmingly McCain. Obama won inside the 2 big cities with large college age and minority populations, but lost everywhere else. My county was 60/40 McCain.

Biscuitsmom- I hear you! We're in Tulsa, transplanted years ago from Chicago, so it's been tough on us too. We too are surprised by the returns from yesterday here. Still, not a total shock. Both DW and I work with people he believe- REALLY BELIEVE- that Obama is a terrorist, bent on destruction of the United States. It's one thing for people to have ideological differences, but when someone is willing to buy into the idea that he is a "terrorist" it's pretty hard to reason with them.

I would have been suprised if Obama had carried any southern state. It is the bible belt and I will admit that race issues still run deep.

In my experience Oklahoma's really not that much different than other parts of the Bible Belt. There are nutty beliefs are everywhere...we don't have the corner on the market. It's been this way for as long as I can remember.

Hi neighbor! It's the same way here in OKC. My father-in-law called my DH last night and asked if we had converted to Islam because we have an Obama sign in our yard.
